Robert (Bob) Wynn Starford passed away on Sunday, December 8, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on January 29, 1948, in Grafton, West Virginia to William and Winifred Starford.
Bob graduated from Grafton High School and then earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from West Virginia University, where he played defensive end on a football scholarship. Wearing #83 during his time with the Mountaineers, Bob and his team won the 1969 Peach Bowl.
He also served as a member of the ROTC program at WVU, and following graduation joined the United States Air Force as a second lieutenant. His service to God and Country is just one example of a life that was in lived in dedication and commitment to those whom he generously loved.
Bob’s personality lit up any room he entered. He loved playing golf, fishing the Texas lakes for big bass and northern streams for trout. He hunted upland birds with help from his hard-working dogs, and he loved his WVU Mountaineers.
Following his retirement from the lumber business, Bob and Donna raised Labrador retrievers at their kennel in Farmersville, Texas. As passionate dog trainers, Bob and Donna enjoyed many wonderful successes in field trials, including the honor of participating in two National Field Trial Championships with their final dog Henry.
Bob married his beloved wife Donna on April 24, 1971, and together they raised three wonderful daughters Brenna, Stacie and Brittny.
Bob is survived by his loving wife Donna Starford, children Brenna (Chad) Tregellas, Stacie (Jeff) Nadeau and Brittny (Ryan) Calsbeek. He is also survived by his 8 grandchildren Jack, Olivia, Daniella and Wynn Tregellas, Nicolette and Brielle Nadeau and Isabel and Ava Calsbeek.
