Robert Juel Lium, better known as Bob, was born October 23, 1944, in Minot, North Dakota to Juel Lium and Erma Jane Hanley Lium. He passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family on June 17, 2022, following declining health in recent years.
Bob was raised in Minot with his three brothers Jim, Larry, and Tom. He attended the University of North Dakota where he met his wife, Pat Tuchscherer of Rugby, North Dakota. After graduation, he went to Navy Flight School in Pensacola, Florida. Bob and Pat married February 10, 1968 in Florida. Bob’s adventures in the Navy on the USS Coral Sea sparked his lifelong passion for travel.
When leaving the Navy, Bob joined Minnesota Life in Minneapolis. After 10 years, Bob left with a colleague to start their own insurance business in Texas. The hard work and sacrifice of many led to a thriving company. Bob retired in 2017 after the company was sold several years prior.
Bob never had an enemy as he was liked by everyone – coworkers, clients, and competitors alike. In his later years at Allied Solutions, he was labeled as the Ambassador of Fun.
Bob loved to spend his time travelling. Europe was his favorite destination while boating with his family was his favorite pastime. He has passed on his love of both to his two sons and their families. In addition to travelling, Bob loved to spend time with his family sharing food, fun and cheering on the Aggies.
Bob is survived by his wife Pat; his sons Brent and his wife Carrie, Jeff and his wife Nancy; his grandchildren Meredith, Cade, Reid, and Paulina; and great grandchildren Zane and Carsten; along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers.
There will be a memorial service to celebrate and honor Bob’s life on Friday, July 8, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Christ United Methodist Church, 3101 Coit Rd., Plano, Texas with Rev.
