Robert Roy Armstrong, 92, of Fort Worth, Texas went to be with the Lord on Friday, May 8, 2020 after a brief illness. Robert was born to the late Ida Lee Barnett and William Henry Armstrong in Franklin, Texas on August 23, 1927. He grew up on the family farm and worked alongside his father and brothers until moving to Fort Worth, Texas as a young man. He joined the United States Army when he turned 18 and served during World War II in Europe (Austria) as a military policeman. After returning to Ft. Worth, he worked most of his adult life as a supervisor for A Brandt Furniture Company. Robert loved being with people and became skilled at interpersonal relationships through his position with A Brandt’s. He enjoyed playing his guitar, fiddle, and mandolin together with his brothers and cousin in his spare time. Robert loved the outdoors and spent time visiting lakes and parks in the surrounding area with family and friends. Upon retirement, Robert used his woodworking skills to make and refinish furniture in the Fort Worth area.
Robert is survived by his four children who loved him very much: Marilyn (Owen Fuller) of Plano, Texas; Joy (Gary Arseneau) of Spearfish, South Dakota; Wayne (Vicki) Armstrong of Ennis, Texas; and Ray (Jean) Armstrong of Deltona, Florida. Robert has 12 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his four brothers, J.B. Armstrong, Monroe Armstrong, Olan Armstrong, his twin brother Raymond Ray Armstrong, and one sister who died in infancy.
Robert trusted Jesus Christ as his Savior at a young age and was devoted to Him. His body will be laid to rest at the Dallas - Fort Worth National Cemetery located in Dallas, Texas on Wednesday, May 13 th .
