Robert Louis Abbie

March 26, 1941 — March 25, 2021

Robert Louis Abbie, 79, of Murphy, Tx, passed away at his home on March, 25, 2021, three hours shy of his 80 th birthday.

He was born in Corsicana, Texas to Osa Edward Abbie and Marjorie Belle Nye Abbie on March 26, 1941. He was the youngest of three children born to the Abbie family. He went to school at Corsicana High School, graduating class of 1959.  He married the love of his life, Joneece (Sam) Smith on November 6, 1977 in DeSoto, Texas. Robert and Sam raised his 3 kids and built a life they loved. They enjoyed traveling together to Puerto Vallarta, Belize, Scotland, Italy and places around the US. Since he couldn’t have free moments with nothing to do, Robert restored vintage cars, including Sam’s ’65 Malibu SS. He loved working in the electric delivery industry, starting his career with TP&L as a lineman in the 60’s. Robert continued his career with TP&L, TXU, Oncor, Llano, Co-Serve and TechServe well into his 70’s. He made many lifelong friends along the way and loved what he did.  He also appreciated a good pair of ostrich boots and could spend hours dancing with Sam any chance he got back in the 80’s.

Robert is preceded in death by his spouse, Sam Abbie; son, Robert Edward Abbie; parents, Osa and Marjorie Abbie and both siblings, Mary Lea Murray and James Bud Abbie.

He is survived by his daughters, Carla Abbie Shaw and husband John Shaw, Heidi Bow and husband Bill Bow; daughter in law, Shirlene Abbie; grandchildren, Carmen Gonzales and husband Jason, Caleb Abbott and wife Kim, Jade Abbie, Breck Kiel and husband Brent, Raejan Dunn, Jacob Bow, Julie Bow and Amanda Emery and husband Ryan and eleven great grandchildren with the twelfth one due in April.
