Richard White passed from this life to his eternal home on Saturday, July 31, 2021, due to complications from chronic congestive heart failure and COPD. He was born May 5, 1943, to Betty Leftwich and Vester (Bud) White in Kansas City, Missouri. After graduating from Vine Grove High School, he enlisted and served one term in the Air Force.
Richard was a loving husband, father, and grandfather, and was a wonderful friend to many. Richard met Sharron through work friends in 1978, and they married April 21, 1979. Most of his life, Richard was an entrepreneur, starting and developing many businesses. He was a long-time member of Prestonwood Baptist Church where he served as a deacon for over 25 years. For the last three years he and Sharron have enjoyed membership at First Baptist Dallas.
Richard had a great love for the Lord and a heart for sharing his faith. He accepted the Lord as his Savior at Prestonwood Baptist Church in 1982, which prepared him for his homegoing to Heaven. On Saturday, July 31, he was ready when the Lord called him home. Richard will be missed by many, but he is now and forever in his eternal home with our Lord.
Richard is survived by his loving wife Sharron White, children Devlin Cates and his wife Tanya, Larry Long and his wife Annette and Jana Cates Denzer and her husband Randy; 12 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Russell (Rusty) White.
There will be a memorial service to celebrate Richard’s life Thursday, August 19, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. at Faith Chapel at Prestonwood Baptist Church, 6801 W Park Blvd., Plano, Texas with Pastor Neal Jeffrey officiating.
