Plano

Richard R. Eden, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and servant of God, passed away peacefully on the morning of May 27, 2025, at the age of 102. Born on May 4, 1923, in Berryville, Arkansas, Richard lived a remarkable life marked by faith and family.

Richard was the cherished husband of Jo Anne Eden, his loving partner for 72 years. Together, they shared a lifetime of joy, faith, and dedication, building a legacy of love that will endure for generations. He was a proud father to his son, John Eden, and daughter-in-law Tammy, and a doting grandfather to his two grandsons, Jonathan and Parker Eden.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers, and two sisters, all of whom he loved deeply. Though his family roots were humble, Richard's life blossomed in ways that touched countless lives.

He graduated from Hardin Simmons University in Abilene, Tx and then obtained his master’s degree from the Dallas Theological Seminary.

An avid gardener, Richard found peace and fulfillment in nurturing the earth, cultivating beauty with his hands and heart. He also had a special talent for re-caning antique chairs, restoring them with care and precision, and preserving their history for future generations.

Richard's greatest passion, however, was serving the Lord through music and ministry. As a Minister of Music and Christian Education, he dedicated his life to sharing the Gospel and inspiring others through song and teaching. His ministry took him from coast to coast, serving congregations in Dallas, Texas; Frederick, Oklahoma; Colorado Springs, Colorado; Los Angeles, California; Abilene, Texas; and West Palm Beach, Florida. Richard's faith and commitment to God were unwavering, and his work touched the lives of countless people across the country.

Richard will be remembered for his kind spirit, gentle wisdom, and the joy he brought to those around him. His love for his family, his devotion to his faith, and his talents will remain a cherished legacy.

Richard was laid to rest at Restland Memorial Park on Wednesday, June 4.

A memorial service will follow at a later date at the First Baptist Church Richardson, I00I N. Central Expressway, Richardson, Texas.

Richard R. Eden: a man of faith, love, and service-now rests in eternal peace with the Lord he served so faithfully. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
