Richard G Sisler

October 9, 1945 — February 20, 2018

Rich was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He was a good and loyal friend. His quick wit and sense of humor made him fun to be around. Highly passionate about everything he did and everyone he loved made him someone you could always count on. Willing to go the extra mile, he never disappointed.

Rich loved to read, play the piano and accordion and listen to his oldies collection. He was deeply involved in the life of his children. Indian Princesses, carpool dad, band booster, history tutor, moral compass, he was always there to support them. A life long Catholic, he was very involved in teaching CCD. An active member of the Knights of Columbus since 1989, he held several positions including Faithful Navigator from 2004 to 2006. He believed deeply in patriotism, right to life and the support of our military and veterans.

Born and raised in Yonkers, New York, he graduated from Commerce High School where he lettered in football, swimming and tennis. After graduating from Pace University with a degree in Accounting, he married his college sweetheart, Nancy O’Leary in 1969. The couple have been married for 48 years. He served in the Air Force from 1969 to 1973 in Anchorage, Alaska, where their son Chris was born.

Plano has been home since 1975 where daughters Mary and Amy were born. Rich worked for Otis Engineering/Halliburton Service for the remainder of his career; work that took him around the world several times. A life long learner, he earned two Master’s Degrees at the University of Dallas and his teaching certificate in History.

He is survived by his wife Nancy, son Chris, daughters Mary and Amy and granddaughters Cassidy and Skyler.

A Vigil Service will be held Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at 7:00 P.M. at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 2700 W Spring Creek Pkwy, Plano, Texas 75023. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, February 28, 2018 also at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church. A reception will follow the mass. Rich will be laid to rest at 1:30 P.M. at the Dallas Ft. Worth National Cemetery, Dallas, Texas with military honors.
