Rebecca Jean Anthony

January 10, 1944 — October 29, 2022

Rebecca Jean Meadows was born on January 10, 1944 in Austin, Texas to James Howard and Emma Jean Meadows. Her family would later move to San Angelo, Fort Worth and then to Midland, where she was part of the first graduating class of Midland Lee High School.

After high school, Rebecca attended San Angelo State College and had the honor of winning the "Make it With Wool" contest in the state of Texas. She then transferred to Texas Tech University in Lubbock and graduated with a degree in Clothing and Textiles and a teaching certificate in 1966.

A week before graduating from Texas Tech, Rebecca met her future husband, Larry Anthony. They knew quickly that the Lord had placed them together and they were engaged in eleven weeks. They married on December 23, 1966 at the First Baptist Church of Midland. This December, they would have been married 56 years.

After Larry received his degree in Architectural Engineering from Texas Tech, he secured a position with an architectural firm in Fort Worth, Texas. They settled in Arlington, Texas because it was halfway between Dallas and Fort Worth and Rebecca secured a position with Texas Electric as a Home Economist.

Ten years later, God blessed them with a son, Trent Michael and then a daughter, Tiffany Michelle twenty-two months later. Rebecca was a stay-at-home mom when the children were not in school and poured her life into her children.

When their children entered school, Rebecca also entered the classroom as a 3rd grade teacher at Pantego Christian Academy in Arlington, Texas. After 18 years, she transitioned to public school and taught 4th graders. She really loved teaching the younger children and seeing the joy on their faces when they worked hard to learn a difficult concept. Upon retiring after another 12 years of full time teaching, Rebecca tutored 3rd and 4th graders in reading and math for an additional ten years. Rebecca also taught preschoolers and volunteered in the church nursery at The Lake Church in Arlington.

Teaching children had always been her love and passion. She built relationships with many parents, students, and educators during her 40 years of teaching. She continued to communicate with many of them long after retirement.

Rebecca and Larry lived in Arlington, Texas for 50 years. They were members of The Lake Church, serving for 32 years. Larry was the Pastor of Administration for 22 years before retiring in 2018. When Larry felt that the Lord was leading him to retire from the ministry, they moved to McKinney to be closer to their daughter and family.

The Lord led them to join Cottonwood Creek Church in Allen, Texas to serve and become members of the Agape Life Group, which has blessed their lives over these past four years.

Rebecca praises her Lord and Savior for HIs provision during difficult times and His protection in the good times of life. Her life verse has been, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Phil 4:13

She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, grandmother and friend and will be missed by all.

Rebecca entered Heaven to be with her Lord on Saturday, October 29, 2022.

Rebecca is survived by her husband of 55 years, Larry; her son Trent and his wife Greta of Parker Colorado; her daughter Tiffany and husband John of McKinney, Texas and grandchildren Leighton and Grant; her brother Bill Meadows and his wife Connie, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Bob Meadows and twins Seren Reese and Christian Ryan.

A memorial service will be held for Rebecca at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at Cottonwood Creek Church, 1015 Sam Rayburn Tollway, Allen, Texas 75013.
