Raymond L. Cano, 57, of Mesilla, New Mexico, returned to his Heavenly Father the morning of Monday, January 10, 2022, surrounded by his family. He was born July 12, 1964, to Raymond Lucero Cano and Emilie (Mila) Cano, in Las Cruces, New Mexico.
Raymond was raised in Mesilla, New Mexico and, after earning his undergraduate degree from New Mexico State University, he moved to Phoenix, Arizona where he earned an MBA from the International Thunderbird School of Global Management. He then lived and worked in Washington D.C., Albuquerque, New Mexico and, since 2000, Dallas, Texas.
He was so much to so many who will mourn his passing deeply. He adored and admired Shelley, who he fondly called his lovely wife. He praised God who gave him a tenderness and gentle spirit, but that didn't stop him from fiercely loving and protecting his family and friends. He lived his life deliberately. If Raymond was a part of someone's life, he made it better. He liked to have fun and was a good storyteller, but he was also a good listener. In addition to his successful professional life, he was a loyal and avid fan of his children's endeavors from academics to music to sports and more. He was an artist, dreamer, foodie and fabulous cook, guitarist and music enthusiast. He dreamed a lot and was always hatching plans to build and improve things like his old Harley Davidson. And, there didn't seem to be a thing he couldn't build or fix.
We were so blessed to have been given time with him during his earthly journey. Death leaves a gap and his is wide.
Raymond is survived by his wife, Shelley; son, Trey and wife, Avelene; daughters, Isabella and Juliet; mother, Mila; sister, Karín and husband Joshua Rice; sister-in-
He was preceded in death by his sister, Silvia Cano-Garcia, and his father, Raymond Lucero Cano.
His Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. (Mountain Time) on Thursday, January 20, 2022, at Peace Lutheran Church, 1701 Missouri Ave., Las Cruces, NM. Burial to immediately follow at San Albino Church Cemetery in Mesilla (SE quadrant - Hwy 28 entrance). For those who cannot attend the service can be viewed at:
