Ravi Chhabra

May 27, 1988 — February 7, 2023

Ravjit (Ravi) Singh Chhabra was born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada on May 27th, 1988. Ravi was diagnosed with leukemia, fought his illness with great determination for 14 months, and passed away on Tuesday, February 7th, 2023, in Dallas, Texas, due to complications related to his treatments.

Ravi graduated from Plano Senior High School and earned his Bachelor of Business Administration with a double major in Marketing and Management from the University of Oklahoma. Ravi was known for his vibrant personality and constant desire to live every day to the fullest. He was an avid sports fan and loved hockey, which he played in high school, college, and Juniors League in the Dallas Metro area. With his love for skating, he gave back to the sport and became a hockey referee working various assignments including travel leagues and Juniors League. He also spent a year working in the Boston Metro area pursuing excellence in his referee skills. In addition to his hockey skills, he ran half-marathons, and played golf. An added bonus, he had the opportunity to coach for his alma mater for the Plano Senior High hockey team.

Ravi started his business career in sales with Industrial Networking Solutions. He fit right in with INS’s commitment to provide best-in-class products, support and services for their customers’ critical wired and wireless machine networking applications. Ravi’s winning personality, competitive nature, and love of building relationships with customers made Ravi a top salesperson for this innovative company.

Ravi's life was filled with many friends who shared his love of sports, gaming, good natured competition, and he knew how to savor the joy of time well spent in the company of others.
He became friends with Rachel Melton in high school and they continued their friendship at Oklahoma University. After graduation, they both returned to North Texas to start business careers, and the friendship blossomed into a devoted and wonderful marriage that began in 2016. Ravi and Rachel had a deep love of traveling and had the opportunity to spend time in Monaco, Greece, Germany, United Kingdom, Italy, Canada, Mexico, Honduras, and Belize. They also had a strong love for US and Canadian national parks and ventured to Hawaii as well.
Ravi was a loving father to two-year-old Lincoln and one-year-old Luke. He always made sure they both knew how loved they were. He planted the seeds for them that would grow them into dedicated hockey and Stars fans.

Family always played an important role in Ravi’s life. With both his parents coming from large international families, he learned early about the joy, love, and strength of family. He is survived by his wife Rachel Melton Chhabra, two children, Lincoln Stark and Lucas Singh, his parents, Daljit and Georgina Bowie Chhabra, three siblings and their spouses: Rajmit (Rosie) Chhabra Chambers (Brett), Ranjit (Randy) Chhabra (Jenine), and Kiranjit (Kiran) Chhabra Oliver (Ryland). Ravi also leaves behind many and much-loved nieces and nephews: Anthony, Gavin, Kenley, Tristan, Hayden, Ryleigh, Kiegan, Eva, Quentin, Valentine, Maile, and Elinor Sol. Many cousins, aunts, and uncles also shared love with Ravi as well.

The loss of Ravi has left us all heartbroken. He will never be forgotten. He improved the lives of anyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. His stories will live on as we all try to follow in his footsteps and carry his light to brighten the world around us.
