Stephen Randolph Dees (Randy) went home to be with his Lord on October 7, 2023. He was born in Dallas Texas and loved living his whole life in Texas.
He was an expert in his field of IT project management, and he was the “tech support guy” for many of his family and friends.
He was a man who was bigger than life to those who knew him, but he was also embracing and approachable to all he encountered. He loved his family, and he was extremely loyal to his friends. He was always there for them. He made it his life’s mission to be authentic whether at church, work, or with friends/family. He walked along side literally 100’s of folks as they went on their journey to sobriety. He believed that helping them was his responsibility to return the gift of sobriety that God had so freely given him. He continued to point the way for those newly walking in sobriety by sharing his time, his home, and his broken story about how God delivered, and continued to deliver, him from his own alcohol addiction. He loved having get togethers in his home for everything from throwing burgers on the grill once a month, to watching bad horror flicks with the guys, and even hosting Super Bowl parties.
Randy enjoyed complex challenges from golf to computers to music. He loved his golf because it takes great attention to detail, focus and practice to get from good to great. His deep love and appreciation for classic country music had him constantly seeking out emerging Texas country musicians to add to his incredibly thorough play list. He regularly shared those newly discovered artists with friends and family. The music was always flowing through the events in his life.
More recently, Randy had begun a journey to further deepen his walk with God and like everything else he did, he led others to deepen their walk with Jesus as well.
Randy is survived by his mother Anna Lee Brunst, his brother Edward Jennings Dees Jr. (wife Diane), sister Katherine Ann McHaney (husband Dale), niece Amanda Lee Dees, and nephew Edward Jennings Dees III.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate Randy’s life at a memorial service to be held on Monday October 23, 2023, at 1 p.m. at St. Andrews Church, 5801 West Plano Parkway, Plano, Texas, 75093.
