Randall Preston Duncan, 48, of McKinney, Texas, was surrounded by his family when he was ushered into the presence of Jesus on October 30, 2026 following a courageous cancer battle. A devoted husband, loving father, and cherished friend, Randy lived a life filled with love, humor, and a fierce dedication to those who meant the most to him. He will be remembered for the memories he created, the joy he brought to others, and the lasting impact he made on his family and friends.
Randy was born on July 28, 1978, in Longview, Texas, to David and Margaret Duncan. He grew up in Richardson, Texas, and attended Berkner High School. He continued his education at Baylor University (Sic ’Em Bears!), majoring in Biology with a minor in History. Randy spent as many hours studying biology as he did dating his future bride and faithfully serving the university alongside his Baylor Chamber of Commerce guys, who became lifelong friends. He then attended UT Southwestern from 2001 to 2003, where he studied prosthetics and orthotics, laying the foundation for a career dedicated to helping others.
Randy’s love story with his wife, Heather, began long before they were married. The two met and became friends through their church youth group and began dating in March 1995, while still in high school. Their relationship continued as they attended Baylor together, and on August 5, 2000, they were married and began a beautiful journey of more than 26 years as husband and wife. Heather was the love of his life, his best friend, and his partner through every joy, challenge, and adventure life brought their way.
Together, Randy and Heather built a life centered around their children, Philip, Kinsley, and Mallory. Randy was also thrilled to welcome Philip’s fiancée, Belle, into the family. Nowhere was Randy’s love more evident than in the way he cherished his children. Whether helping them with a project, encouraging their dreams, or celebrating their accomplishments, he was always there. He loved sharing life with them, from participating in Indian Guides/Princess to eagerly anticipating the Daddy-Daughter Dance each year with his girls and coaching numerous seasons of sports, as well as being a counselor on youth church trips. Randy loved fishing and family trips, but more than anything, he loved the time spent together. Of all the things he accomplished in his life, he considered raising his children his greatest achievement. His love, guidance, and the values he instilled in Philip, Kinsley, and Mallory will forever be a part of who they are, and his legacy will live on through them.
Randy dedicated his professional life to helping others through his work in prosthetics and orthotics. He believed every patient deserved not only the best possible care and comfort, but also to feel truly heard, seen, and valued. He worked tirelessly to make that happen, often arriving early, staying late, and traveling wherever he was needed to ensure his patients received the attention they deserved. To Randy, his patients were never just appointments on a schedule. They were people whose lives he had the privilege of improving.
Six years ago, Randy and Heather founded Stability Prosthetics together, building a business rooted in compassion, dedication, and a commitment to exceptional patient care. But Randy’s impact extended far beyond the patients he served. He deeply valued the incredible employees who became part of the Stability Prosthetics family and took great pride in teaching, mentoring, and helping them grow. He generously shared his knowledge and experience, investing his time and energy in helping others become the very best at what they did. His influence will continue through the people he taught, encouraged, and inspired.
Randy had a personality that was uniquely his own. He could be quiet and unassuming, yet incredibly witty and outgoing, often surprising those around him with his quick humor. He had a movie quote for every occasion, and in any conversation, you knew a funny impersonation was coming soon. He was also famously optimistic when it came to time, always believing there was just enough of it to fit in one more thing. Randy earned the name “Handy Randy” in the neighborhood. If a friend needed a hand, he showed up before they finished asking. He could fix almost anything, and he owned at least three tools for every job. He was always creating, building, or repairing and he found great joy in using those gifts to serve others. Those who knew him well will undoubtedly smile remembering his goofiness, boundless energy, and ability to make even ordinary moments memorable.
Randy’s faith in Jesus Christ was an important foundation in his life. He was a faithful member of First United Methodist McKinney and a member of the Pathfinders Class. His love for his family, his dedication to helping others, and the way he invested in the people around him reflected the values he held dear. He lived out his faith through the way he loved, served, and cared for others, leaving an example that will continue to inspire those who knew him.
Randy is survived by his loving wife, Heather; his children, Philip Duncan (fiancée Belle), Kinsley Duncan, and Mallory Duncan; his father, David Duncan; his brother, Andrew Duncan, and his wife, Mandy; and his sister, Claire Manuel, and her husband, Dane. He is also survived by many beloved aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews. Randy was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Duncan.
A celebration of Randy’s life will be held at 10:30 a.m., Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at First United Methodist Church McKinney, where family and friends will gather to remember and honor a man who meant so much to so many.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Randy’s memory to First United Methodist Church McKinney, designated for youth or missions.
Though Randy’s time on earth was far too short, his legacy lives on in the family he loved so deeply, the people he helped, and the countless lives made better simply because he was part of them. He will be deeply missed, forever loved, and never forgotten.
