Ralph Boyd Calvert, age 95, of Plano, Texas and formerly from Florida and Pennsylvania, went peacefully to the Lord on March 27, 2018 after a short battle with cancer.
He was born on November 9, 1922 in Altoona, Pennsylvania and graduated from Altoona High School in 1940. Ralph served honorably in the Navy during WW II as an Electrical Technician Mate from January 1944 until May 1946 in the Pacific Theatre. Upon returning to the States, he finished his education at Penn State University; graduating with an electrical engineering degree in 1949.
Ralph met Jeannetta Brown on a blind date and they were later married on March 11, 1950. He worked for GTE Sylvania as an electrical engineer in Brooksville, Altoona and Williamsport, Pennsylvania for most of his career. He enjoyed golfing, spending time with his family and was a member of the Masonic Lodge and Jaffa Shrine in Altoona, Pennsylvania.
Ralph is survived by his wife of 68 years, Jeannetta Calvert, children Alan Calvert (Elizabeth) of Chula Vista, California, Dave Calvert (Jody) of Findley Lake, New York, Pattie Delin (Steve) of Plano, Texas, grandchildren Scott and Kim Calvert, Mindy Littlefield (Danny) and Christy Passinger (Jason), Wes and Brandon Delin, great grandchild Chase Littlefield and Baby Passinger on the way.
Ralph will be honored by the U.S. Navy and laid to rest at Dallas/Ft Worth National Cemetery, Thursday, April 5, 2018 at 11:30 A.M. All are welcome to attend.
