Peter Joseph Gagnon, 77, passed away peacefully in his home on Saturday, September 23, 2023. Peter was born on November 25, 1945, to Helen and Romeo Gagnon in Holyoke, Massachusetts.
He graduated in 1963 from Chicopee Comprehensive High School as salutatorian of his class. Immediately after graduation, he was shipped out to Marine boot camp in Paris Island. He was assigned to the HMX-1 squadron and stationed at Quantico, Virginia. He spent 6 years in Presidential Service as crew chief and was honorably discharged as a Sargeant. While stationed at Quantico, Virginia, he met the love of his life, Ada Gagnon. After 6 months of courtship, they married and enjoyed a long, wonderful life together for 56 years. Lisa Renee, their only child, was born in October 1968 and was the apple of Peters’ eye.
Peter started his working life at Pratt & Whitney in Hartford, Connecticut testing jet engines. He eventually moved into the steam turbine industry and retired after many years as a field representative. His job in the field took him all over the world including Japan, where the government issued him a commendation for his services. He spent most of his years in Westfield, Massachusetts with his friends and family, eventually moving to Allen, Texas so he could spend more time with his beloved grandchildren.
He was active in his church as a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, a Eucharistic Minister and hospital ministry. If there was a job or spot to be filled, Peter was there to fill it. He was knight of the month multiple times, Knight of The Year and volunteer of the year. Peter was known by many as a man of faith, deep values, character and integrity. A true and faithful servant.
Peter is survived by his wife Ada Gagnon; daughter Lisa Ryan and fiancé James Parnow; grandson Collin Jarvis; great grandchildren Pasiley and Carter, nieces and nephews and a multitude of friends.
