Peggy (Dorothy A.) Welter

Peggy (Dorothy A.) Welter, age 86, of Plano, Texas, died June 12, 2017. She was born June 5, 1931 in Nevada, Missouri, to Roscoe C. and Genelda Bush, and was the eldest of four siblings. She was extremely responsible and dependable, going to work at the age of 12 for the Barron Movie Theater in Pratt, Kansas. After high school, she began working for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in Pratt, where she met the love of her life, Lyman Welter. They were married on June 16, 1962. Their careers took them from Pratt, to Wichita, to Topeka, and Kansas City, Kansas, and finally Lyman was transferred to Plano in the early 1980s, and they lived here until their deaths. Lyman preceded her in death on July 13, 2000. They had just celebrated their 38th wedding anniversary. Peggy continued to live independently in their home for almost 17 years, as she remained active, celebrated friendships and family, and faithfully attended their church, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. In addition to her dear husband, Lyman Welter, Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Roscoe C. and Genelda Bush, and her youngest sister, Betty Lee (Bush) Graham. She is survived by her younger sister, Pebble Johnson of Dodge City, Kansas, and her younger brother, James R. Bush of Newton, Kansas, and several nieces and nephews. Our dear Aunt Peggy always enjoyed spending time and playing games with her many nieces and nephews; she always said we were more fun. She will be missed, as she was deeply loved. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated Friday, June 16, at 3:00 PM at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton, 2700 W. Spring Creek Parkway, Plano, Texas. Peggy will be laid to rest on immediately following the mass at Plano Mutual Cemetery, 18th Street and Jupiter, Plano, Texas.
