Peggy Williams, age 96, completed a long and wonderfully fruitful journey on April 7, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love and laughter. 96 years was simply not enough, but Peggy packed more joy and kindness into them than most ever could.
Born October 31, 1929, to Richard and Berta Bolton, Peggy was an only child. Having been born only two days after the stock market crash that launched The Great Depression, times were tough.
Peggy was beloved by everyone who encountered her. She was a beautiful, talented little girl with a winning smile. She was always ready to dance or sing for anyone who asked.
While still very young her family moved from Texas to Louisiana, settling in Shreveport. There she made many friends, although her best friend was always her mother, Berta.
She was a class beauty at Fair Park High School and enjoyed being with her friends as often as she could. In the summer of 1945, the stars aligned when Peggy’s friends introduced her to a young Army Air Corps G.I. named Robert “Bob” Williams. It was love at first sight for Bob, and he did everything he could to be with Peggy whenever he could get away from his duties at Barksdale Air Force Base. When Bob told Peggy, “I’m being discharged, I’m getting out of here, but I’m not going without you,” he asked her to marry him. Soon after marriage the couple settled in Dallas where they welcomed their children, Dale and Patricia.
Peggy was a devoted wife and mother. The family moved to Irving, where Peggy enjoyed volunteering at the local hospital and at her church. When the children entered high school, she worked in the credit department for JC Penny Corporation and continued her volunteer work.
Peggy had a beautiful singing voice. She regularly sang in the church, performing solos for services and funerals. She enjoyed reading the Bible, playing the piano and composing music and lyrics. She appreciated and loved listening to gospel music, and sermons on radio and television. She was a faithful member of her church and volunteered in the church offices.
Peggy loved attending events that her children were performing in and never missed a single performance or sports event. The family enjoyed camping, cross country travel, and boating and water skiing.
As an adult she learned to swim and loved hosting friends around their backyard pool. She was a wonderful hostess and supportive wife of a corporate officer for the many years Bob was a vice president of Zale Corporation and Blue Cross Blue Shield.
Following Bob’s retirement, the couple traveled by motor coach through the 48 contiguous states. They saw all our great country’s premier sites, natural wonders, monuments, and many coastlines and intercoastal waterways throughout the US. When the grandchildren came along, Peggy was always ready to spoil them and take them on many of their adventures. They frequently took their granddaughters to enjoy weekend events in and around Texas, as well as longer trips to other regions.
It was also quite common for Peggy to be with her mother day-to-day – shopping, eating out, and traveling together with Bob. When her mother became ill, Peggy and Bob moved her into their home and cared for her.
The couple spent most of their married life living in Rockwall on a lakeview property. It was the gathering place for many family events and included getting out on the water at Chandlers Landing Yacht Club in their cabin cruiser and sailboats.
Peggy lovingly cared for Bob when he developed Parkinsons and dementia in his later years. She was a cheerful caregiver and never complained.
Peggy was strong and resilient and stayed busy and active for most of her later years. At age 94 she moved in with her daughter and her husband, Phillip. She then transitioned to assisted living, where she was loved and cared for by many who miss her very much today.
Peggy is survived by her son, Dale Williams (Barbara); daughter, Patricia Kaster; grandchildren, Colleen Gardner (Kyle), Kelly Bellomy (David), Wendy Hanson (Jeff), Geoffrey Kaster (Amy), Tiffany Holbrook (David); Michelle Sanders (Jerry); Billy Winn. 6 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Bob; parents, Richard Pride Bolton (Gracie), and Berta Kennedy Bolton Tackett (Buster); grandson, Todd Winn, great-granddaughter, Sara Travis; and son-in-law, Phillip Kaster.
An inurnment burial at her husband's gravesite will be held at the DFW National Cemetery May 8, 2026.
A Celebration of Life memorial service will be held at 2 p.m., Sunday, May 24, 2026, at Church in the City, 6005 Dalrock Road, Rowlett, Texas 75088.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Peggy’s honor may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Make a Wish Foundation.
Peggy’s legacy is one of faith, resilience, and love for her family and friends. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all.
