Paula Corrine (Maldonado) Freeman, age 69, claimed the promise of her baptism on January 21, 2019 ending her battle with cancer.
Paula was born on September 14, 1949 in Las Vegas, New Mexico to Liberato and Annick (Dessenne) Maldonado. As a child, Paula and her twin sister Paulette, enjoyed spending their time together and shared everything.
At West Las Vegas High School, Paula played clarinet in the marching band. While working her part-time job at A&W, she met her future husband, Wayne. After graduating in 1968, she attended classes at New Mexico Highlands University.
Paula and Wayne married on July 5, 1969 in Las Vegas, New Mexico and then moved to the Dallas area for a short time. Wayne was inducted into the US Army. While he was in training, Paula and Wayne lost their son, Gregory Wayne in infancy. Wayne was then transferred to Germany for a year and a half and Paula followed before they returned to Plano.
In 1974 their first daughter, Suzette Dawn, was born. Their second daughter, Kelly Renee followed in 1978. Paula stayed home and raised the children and played tennis frequently until 1984 when she went to work at Texas Instruments.
During her 34-year tenure between Texas Instruments and Raytheon, Paula worked as an administrative assistant. She loved her job and her caring and helpful nature won the hearts of her co-workers and everyone she knew.
Over the years, Paula enjoyed many hobbies including tennis, ceramics, bowling and roller skating with family. She had many collections including smiley faces, snowmen, Santa’s, snowflakes and angels. Her love of music lead to frequent dancing and her appreciation of all things Elvis. Paula’s longest running hobby was working with ceramics. She was well known for the Christmas ornaments she distributed each year to family, friends and co-workers. After her grandchildren were born, David Alexander in 2008 and Charlotte Annick in 2013, playing with and caring for them became her hobby of choice.
Paula was preceded in death by her infant sister, Pauline Maldonado, her infant son Gregory Freeman, and her father, Liberato Maldonado.
She is survived by her husband, Wayne Freeman, daughter Suzette Freeman, daughter Kelly Perrin and husband Steve, grandchildren David Perrin and Charlotte Perrin, and her mother Annick Maldonado, all of Plano, Texas. She is also survived by her sister, Paulette Clement and husband Clark of Timberon, New Mexico and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins
