Patricia (Patty) Anne Riggert was born November 6, 1964, in Waterloo, Iowa to parents Jerome and Marcela (Siek) Riggert. Patty passed away Friday, December 23, 2022, in Houston, Texas.
Patty grew up in Waterloo Iowa, where she graduated from West High School and the University of Northern Iowa. She worked as a Program Manager in the IT industry for Electronic Data Systems (EDS), Hewlett Packard (HP). Later she worked for Target Corporation and AVI SPL.
Patty enjoyed traveling and dedicated the majority of her free time to dog rescue, choosing to foster the unwanted, elderly and challenging dogs rescued by NBRAN, the National Brittany Rescue Adoption Network. She helped ensure safe harbor for rescued dogs. Patty chose to keep several of her “fosters” providing end of life care and a warm and loving home to many. She especially loved participating in the NBRAN Canine Railroad which provides the transportation of rescued Brittany’s from one place to another.
Patty loved attending her nieces and nephews’ sports activities and was looking forward to participating in the activities of the next generation. She had a soft spot in her heart for the disadvantaged, especially the homeless, whether people or animals.
Patty is survived by her sisters Ruth Lerohl, of Spring Hill, Florida, Sue Smythe and husband Greg of Plano, Texas, brother Mark Riggert and husband Steven Westenbroek of Omaha, Nebraska and a host of nephews, nieces, colleagues and friends who will miss Patty greatly. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Christoph and Louise Riggert and Charles and Hilda Siek, her father, Jerome J. "Jerry" Riggert, her mother Marcella (Siek) Riggert and her sister Rita Brtek.
