Patricia Jane Kubick, 78, passed peacefully on January 1, 2021, at home surrounded by her family.
A daughter of the late James and Mildred Painter, she was born on March 25, 1942, in Canton, Ohio. She attended both Washington High School and New Philadelphia High School in Ohio, graduating from New Philadelphia High School. She thereafter attended Ohio University, graduating with a bachelor’s degree in Journalism. She also studied at the University of Michigan. Pat was a fiercely determined woman of integrity and compassion. Her career in journalism and as a writer found her traveling on a helicopter to an oil rig in the Gulf of Mexico to work on a political campaign in Ohio to traveling in Europe to capture and share stories for an international company for whom she worked. She received numerous awards acknowledging her professional excellence in journalism and enjoyed a long career in marketing for several large corporations.
She “resisted” before it was popular and refused to accept the status quo for the treatment of women in the workplace; especially for herself. She was outspoken in her beliefs and maintained a standard of integrity that influenced her children and countless friends and colleagues.
Pat enjoyed traveling with her husband, Ted, and together they had numerous adventures across the United States and abroad. She loved her many visits to Europe, and she always loved driving through the hills of the Amish Country in Eastern Ohio and Western Pennsylvania in Fall time.
But more than anything, Pat loved and adored her family. She loved the holidays and sending care packages to her sons and granddaughters filled with “Grandma’s Famous Cookies.”
She is survived by her devoted husband and best friend, Ted Kubick, of Plano, Texas; Sister, Marcia (Joe) Newhart, of Silverthorne, Colorado; Sons, Lee (Lisa) Morris, of Ft. Worth, Texas, Jamie (Karen) Morris of Evansville, Indiana, and Chris Kubick, of Oakland, California; Granddaughters, Natalie, Ashley, Maggie, and Kate Morris, and Tiebe Kubick. She is also survived by many loving cousins, the “Compaq Ladies,” her weekly bridge group, and her dearest friends, Ellen & Mike Talus.
The family expresses their deepest gratitude to Anchor of Hope Hospice of Plano for their incredibly compassionate care. A memorial service will be planned at a later date when family and friends are able to travel to celebrate Pat’s life. Please consider making a memorial contribution in her honor to Cancer Support Community North Texas ( https://cancersupporttexas.org ).
