Pat Becker

July 29, 1950 — August 19, 2022

Patricia Ann McGrath was born in the Bronx, New York on July 29, 1950, as the first child of James and Agnes Patricia McGrath. Her family moved to the Long Island suburbs when she was a young child. She graduated from Commack High School in 1969, where she participated in theater arts. She went on to attend classes at Suffolk County Community College. She met her husband later that year while both were working part time jobs in a gourmet food store. She and Mike began dating and were married on April 8, 1972. They were blessed with two sons, Peter Nicholas Becker and Eric Michael Becker. They moved to Houston in 1981 and to Plano in 1999. Pat was called to the Lord on August 19, 2022.

Pat had a particular soft spot for her loving grandchildren, James and Willow, who affectionately know her as "NaNa". She loved them beyond description and knew that every minute spent with them was a precious gift from God.

Pat had a caring and compassionate heart. She was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. She spent a number of years as a Cub Scout den mother and a Little League team mom. She was a fixture in the stands of all of Peter's and Eric's school and sports events. She was an active member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton and participated in numerous parish ministries. In addition to being an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion, she was active in the parish's quilt ministry, women's club, women's bible study, St. Vincent DePaul Society, bereavement ministry, and lastly as President of the Ladies Auxiliary of Knights of Columbus Council #7850. Pat touched many people’s lives in a positive way.

Pat also had an adventurist spirit. Pat enjoyed big game hunting. She and Mike celebrated their 25th wedding anniversary on safari in South Africa. She was a member of North Texas Harley Owners Group and later Maverick HOG. She spent many weeks touring the country on her own '07 Harley-Davidson DeLuxe motorcycle and later on the back of Mike's bike. Their travels took them from coast to coast and many places in between. She loved to experience the sights, sounds and aroma of America from a motorcycle and would be working the camera while Mike drove. Pat was also becoming an avid fly fisher as a member of the Dallas Fly Fishers and was a conservationist and strong proponent of catch and release. She and Mike enjoyed fishing trips to Montana, Utah, New Mexico, Oklahoma, Colorado and Belize. She had a particular fondness for their annual trip to Arkansas' White River near Bull Shoals State Park, where she relished catching may large, hard fighting trout. She also enjoyed getting behind the wheel of the family bass boat even when she wasn't fishing, just to see how fast it would go.

She would not be denied a life well lived.

Pat is survived by her loving husband Michael Becker; children Peter Becker and his wife Julie; Eric Becker and his wife Catryn; grandchildren James and Willow Becker; siblings Kevin McGrath and his wife Andrea, Mary Jockin, Joey McGrath and his wife Yvonne, Maureen Guardino and her husband Bobby, Josephine McGrath, Peter Becker and his wife Elaine.  And many loving nieces, nephews and friends.  She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Michael McGrath.
