Osvaldo De Lima

January 29, 1960 — February 8, 2020

Osvaldo De Lima was born January 29, 1960 in Bauru, São Paulo, Brazil to parents Osvaldo de Moraes and Amelia De Lima.

Osvaldo grew up in the small town of Bauru, Brazil, with his mother and grandmother. From an early age, he was very dedicated and excelled in his studies. He worked hard to provide for his family, starting to work full time at the age of 14, earning his bachelor’s degrees in Business Administration and Accounting from two acclaimed universities in São Paulo and building his career in Accounting and IT at Cargill from 1983 to 1993 and later at ECOM Group from 1993 through 2020. He quickly rose through the ranks to a management position and exercised the role of CIO for over 20 years. Osvaldo traveled extensively in his work, and as a result visited over 30 countries in five continents and permanently moved to Allen, Texas, in 2003.

Osvaldo was a loving husband and father of two. He met his wife, Silvana, in high school, began dating in 1980 and enjoyed 35 happy years of marriage. They had 2 daughters and twin grandkids. He was the most selfless and loyal family man; he would move mountains for his wife and kids.

Perhaps what people will remember most about Osvaldo is his sense of humor. There was never a dull moment with Osvaldo, he was always light-hearted and loved to make people laugh with his sarcastic remarks, providing comic relief to even the most difficult situations. But to those who knew him more closely, he will be remembered as a moral compass as his sense of fairness and integrity were an integral part of his personality and it showed in his every action.

He passed away after battling pancreatic cancer for 4 years, a week after his 60th birthday. He was so strong throughout the entire fight and exhausted every avenue through the very end. His positive attitude and will to live was inspiring to everyone around him.

He is survived by his wife Silvana De Lima; daughters Fernanda De Lima Jacobson and her husband Matthew and Gabriela De Lima; grandchildren William Daniel and Riley Alyssa Jacobson; mother Amelia De Lima.  He was preceded in death by his father.

A memorial service will be held to celebrate Osvaldo's life on Saturday, February 15, 2020 at 2:00 P.M. at Allen Family Funeral Options with Robert Matthews officiating.  There will be a reception to follow the service.
