Nickolas Constantine Dixie was born to Charles and Lucille (nee Wallace) Dixie in Fort Worth, Texas on January 25, 1940. He grew up in the Kessler Park neighborhood of Dallas. He graduated in 1958 from WH Adamson High School where he met and married his lifelong sweetheart, Donna Gail Gardner. He earned a degree from Southern Methodist University. He was committed to service and was a pillar of the Dallas-area Greek community. He was an active and dedicated member of the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, a proud member of the American Hellenic Educational Progressive Association (AHEPA), where he held many positions including Supreme Governor. He was a committed member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Knights Templar, Royal Order of the Jesters, and the Tannehill Masonic Lodge. He served the City of Dallas as a Grand Jury foreman and a member of the Board of Adjustments.
Nick loved many things, AHEPA conventions, painting, poker nights with high school friends and fellow Ahepans, Budweiser, sports cars especially Mustangs, horse races and his family dog, Cinnamon.
Nick was a loving husband, father, brother, father-in-law, grandfather, uncle, godfather, and friend to all who knew him. His sense of humor and friendship will be missed by many.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife Donna Dixie, his father Charles Dixie, his mother Lucille Dixie, his brother George Dixie, his brother Christos Dixie, his sister Janette Dixie and his nephew Charles Dixie.
He is survived by his daughter Christa Butler (Tom), daughter Nicole Aviles (Arturo), his grandsons Nick Aviles and Alex Aviles, his sister Aglaia Mauzy, his sister-in-law Gwen Dixie, his nieces Hon. Catherine Mauzy (Hans Magnusson), Alexandria Paris (Jason), and Gretchen Gardner, his nephews Charles Mauzy (Lola), James Mauzy, and Jimmy Gardner, and his grandnieces/nephews, Hudson Paris, Eleni Paris, and Rhett Paris.
A trisagion service will be held on Wednesday, February 21, 2024 at 6:30 pm at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 13555 Hillcrest Rd., Dallas, Texas 75240. The funeral service will be held Thursday, February 22, 2024 at 11:00 am also at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church/Benevolent Fund.
