Nancy (Cissy) Arlene Young

August 31, 1962 — December 25, 2017

Nancy Arlene (Childers) Young was born August 31, 1962 in Evergreen Park, Illinois to parents George and Nancy (Lambert) Young. She passed away from natural causes with family by her side on December 25, 2017 in Dallas, Texas.

“Well, I told you I was sick. I would tell you not to cry, especially my horrible husband, but I want you all to be miserable without me. If you do miss me, all you must do is look at my daughter, she is the spitting image of me—not so much my husband, but that’s a different story.” I know she is writing this right now, and trust me, when I see her again she is going to get it. “I show my love by being brutally honest, never sugar-coated, but always with the best intentions. Being a mother has been one of my greatest accomplishments, even though my children never listened to me. I would fight an army for them, and I have. I hope you remember me for my courage, strength, wicked sense of humor, and my innate ability to kick anyone’s butt when needed. I would say don’t miss me, but you will. I have to go now, David Bowie asked me to sing back-up at the Elvis show”.

She graduated from Kelly High School and attended Southeast Missouri State University (SEMO) in 1980-81. She married Conrad Young on August 22, 1981 and was a military spouse for 29 years. She was mother to Daniel Nathan Young and Lindsay Paige Young. Cissy was also an animal activist and volunteered with the Anatolian Shepherd Rescue of North Dallas for many years.

Cissy is survived by her loving husband Conrad Lynn Young of Frisco, Texas, children Daniel Nathan Young of Belews Creek, North Carolina and Lindsay Paige Young of Frisco, Texas, mother Nancy Ann Childers of Jackson, Missouri, brother George Andrew Childers Bellview, Missouri, sisters Ami Jean Walton of Millersville, Missouri and Penny Jane Coleman of Millersville, Missouri, three grandchildren and many loving nieces, nephews and friends. Two Anatolian Shepherds, one Affenpincher, and two Siamese kittens. She was preceded in death by her father George Childers and one aunt Brenda Henneman, two grandmothers and two grandfathers.

A celebration of Nancy’s life will be held Sunday, January 14, 2017 between 1:00-4:00 P.M. at Cross Roads Fellowship Baptist Church, 4400 E Jackson Blvd, Jackson, Missouri with Pastor Brian Anderson officiating.

Nancy will be laid to rest at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, Hawaii on Monday, May 14, 2018.

If desired contributions may be made to the National Anatolian Shepherd Rescue Network at www.nasrn.com.
