Nancy H Barton was born February 12, 1951 in Detroit, Michigan to parents E. Ross and Betty Jo (Morrison) Hopkins. She passed away January 27, 2019 in Mc Kinney, Texas surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Nancy was an artist, designer, and illustrator and worked primarily in the DFW high-tech industry in the area of marketing communications. Through her company Nova Communications and later as a direct employee, she did projects for dozens of companies, most notably United Equipment Rentals, Texas Instruments, Sterling Software, Moneymaker ATM, and Chipdata, Inc. Most recently she worked for State Farm Insurance as Select Staff for three agents.
While at Penn State and Syracuse universities, she majored in Fine Arts & Illustration. She qualified for the study-abroad program and spent several semesters at the Sir John Cass School of Art in London and visited the major museums of Britain and France.
She met her husband Jeff while developing CD-ROM materials at Texas Instruments. They traveled widely in the US, Canada, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium, France, and The Netherlands, eventually joining the marketing department of Richardson-based software startup Chipdata, Inc. Her business travels allowed her to add the major museums in Germany and The Netherlands to her sketchbook.
Her favorite places included Villanova, Pennsylvania, Ipswich, Massachusetts, Geneva, Switzerland, and Monterrey, California. In addition to traveling, her favorite activities were gardening and birding.
Of all her accomplishments, her proudest are her two sons, William (Zig) and Thomas (TomTom) Floyd, who both are fine young men who have welcomed their sweethearts Casey and Jeanna to our family. William and Casey also have gifted us with our only grandchild, Elijah Orion Floyd, who is two years old.
Nancy has had a fine network of close friends who have been a great help to us in bearing our current burden. Our hearts are full of love and our memories are truly golden.
Nancy is survived by her husband Jeff Barton; sons William and Tom; sister Jody Hopkins-Graham and her husband George and Jody's sons Evan and Darryl; brother Dan Hopkins and his wife Janna and their daughter Julia and son Matthew; Jeff's brother and sister-in-law Len and Nanette Barton and their daughter Whitney; Jeff's brother Jack Barton and his daughters Katelyn and Casey and her stepdaughter Holland Barton.
The family will greet friends for an Evening of Remembrance from 7:00 - 9:00pm on Wednesday, January 30, 2019 at Allen Family Funeral Options.
