On March 10, 2022, our beloved Millie, peacefully passed away in her home after a brief illness surrounded by family.  She was born in Flint, Michigan on October 24, 1926, to Katherine and Mike Kovacevich.  She grew up in Flint, Michigan and as a young woman had the opportunity to work at the Pentagon in Washington D.C. during the Korean War.   She missed her family and returned to Flint, Michigan where she worked as a secretary at the bank and at a private investigator’s office.

She married Joe Morse on May 24, 1952, at Sacred Heart Church in Flint, Michigan.  Shortly after they were married Joe was drafted into the U.S. Army and they moved to Louisville, Kentucky.   Millie worked at Ft. Knox while Joe was stationed in Louisville.  When Joe’s time in the service was completed, they returned to Flint, Michigan.

They had four daughters, Karen, Barbara, JoAnne (Jody) and Peggi.  She spent her life raising her kids and helping her husband in the various businesses he owned.  She was a very kind person who always saw the goodness in everyone.

Her sister, Sammy, was also a big part of her life.  They enjoyed shopping, dining out and going to the casino.  They shared many special family moments together as their kids were growing up and as they became older.

When her husband became ill, she moved with him to Dallas, Texas to be with her daughters.   She loved living in a warm climate and being close to her daughters and grandchildren.   She always said moving to Texas was one of the best decisions they ever made.   One of her many pleasures, was knitting and she made many blankets and scarves.   She also never missed a chance to go to the casino and play the slots.  She had her favorite machines and got lucky enough to make the trips eventful.

Millie led a very full life, spending lots of time with her 7 grandchildren.   She spent time with them as young kids, going to the park, swimming pool, watching them in their school activities including soccer games, dance, cheer competitions, speech and debate, choir, and all the other extracurricular activities they were involved in.  She saw all her grandkids grow up and always said she never thought she would live long enough to see her kids become senior citizens.

She also loved music, at times writing her own songs. In her younger years, she played the accordion.    She enjoyed watching the Voice because she loved all the talented singers.  She never missed an episode of the soap opera, “The Bold and The Beautiful”.  She watched this show for many decades and would become engrossed in the storyline.

As she got older, her daughters took her on cruises, Las Vegas and many trips to Windstar and Choctaw casinos in Oklahoma to celebrate her birthdays.  She loved these trips and had so much fun experiencing new places and things.  She was always ecstatic when all her girls were with her.  Simply put, she loved life and was going to enjoy every minute of it.   She was constantly on the move and had more energy than anyone several years younger.

She is survived by her daughters, Karen Castillo and husband Rudy Castillo, Barbara Gaume and husband David Gaume, JoAnne (Jody) Masters and husband Scott Masters, Peggi Fowler and husband Paul Fowler.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Ryan Castillo, Katie Castillo, Michael Gaume, Alyson Gaume, Shelby Masters, Brooke Fowler and Ross Fowler and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Morse, sister, Sammy West, brothers, Nicholas Kovacevich and Albert Heglas.
