Michael Harold Manor, loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend went into the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on March 11, 2022.
Michael was born in Plattsburgh, New York on October 5, 1945. He graduated from Mount Assumption Institute. Michael attended Sienna College in Albany, New York where he joined the Army ROTC program. He graduated with a degree in accounting and was commissioned as a 2 nd Lieutenant in the United States Army. He went on to Ft. Sill, Oklahoma for his 10-week OBC. Upon completion he was sent overseas to Germany. While in Germany, he was Battery Commander for Field Artillery and was promoted during this time to Captain. 1970, he received his orders to serve in Vietnam. After a 13-month tour, he returned home and was stationed back at Ft. Sill. During his time in Vietnam, he was awarded the Bronze Star with two oak leaf clusters. He also received Army Commendation with Valor, the National Defense medal and the Republic of Vietnam service medal. While he was stationed in Oklahoma, he attended Oklahoma University and received his master’s degree in human relations. In 1975 he resigned his commission and moved his family to California to pursue a business career. While in California he worked for the Southland Corporation. In 1987 he was promoted to CEO of Chief Auto Parts and relocated to Dallas, TX.
When Michael was a young boy, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. After joining Prestonwood Baptist Church in 1991, he was very involved in evangelism. He was a deacon; he taught Evangelism Explosion and was involved with the Prison Ministry. More recently, he was part of the security team on Sunday mornings and helped in the AWANA program on Wednesday evenings.
In 2016, Michael joined the Citizens Assisting Plano Police (CAPP) program. Michael had a deep desire to serve his community both through church and through the Police Department.
Michael was an avid outdoorsman enjoying golfing, fishing, hunting, and running. Michael and Janis loved playing golf together at beautiful courses across the country. Their favorite place to golf and vacation was Phoenix, Arizona. Another favorite pastime was firing up the BBQ. He loved to smoke various types of meat from ribs to pork and brisket.
Michael was predeceased by his wife, Janis Manor, his parents Harold and Eleanor (Franklin) Manor and his brother-in-law, H. Daniel Froehlich. He is survived by his daughters Kimberly (Ronnie) Stephenson, Tracie (Bill) Williams; his stepsons, Chris (Erin) Scarbrough and Shawn Scarbrough; his granddaughters, Jenna (Kevin) French and Grace Scarbrough; his sisters Karen Froehlich and Marilyn (Brian) Wilcox; his brother Stephen (Anna) Manor and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life service will be on Thursday, March 17, 2022 at 3:00pm at Prestonwood Baptist Church, 6801 W. Park Boulevard, Plano, Texas with a reception to follow in the Fireside Room.
Interment will be held at a later date at the Dallas Ft. Worth National Cemetery.
