Matthew (Matt) Morgan

June 4, 1974 — October 10, 2023

Matthew Morgan was born and raised in the heart of Dallas, Texas. From his early days, he embraced the spirit of the city, a spirit deeply entwined with the legendary Dallas Cowboys. For Matthew, this team was more than just a sports franchise; it was a passion that lit up his eyes and filled his heart. The thrill of the game, the camaraderie of the fans, and the legacy of the team became an integral part of his identity.

But Matthew’s interests extended beyond the football field. There was another aspect of Dallas that fascinated him—the history surrounding the Kennedy assassination. He delved into books, documentaries, and every resource he could find, trying to unravel the mysteries of that fateful day in 1963. The stories whispered found a home in his curious mind, and he became an amateur historian, piecing together the events that had forever marked his beloved hometown.

Among his many interests and pursuits, Matthew’s deepest affection was for his family. He formed an unbreakable connection with his father, Roger Morgan, an experienced car dealer who not only passed on business expertise but also invaluable life lessons. Under his father’s guidance, Matthew learned the ropes, understanding that success was earned through hard work and determination. Their relationship extended beyond mere father and son; they were confidants, friends, occasional adversaries, and allies in facing life’s challenges.

As time passed, the family experienced a devastating loss with the passing of Roger, leaving an overwhelming void in their lives. In the face of grief, Matthew found peace with his family, particularly in his mother, whose strength and love served as a reliable source of comfort. In a gesture of love and his devotion, Matthew moved in with his mother in Plano, a suburb of Dallas. Together, they weathered the storm of loss, and, in the process, their bond grew even stronger.

In the final days of Matthew’s life, he found himself at home, surrounded by the very things he loved. His mother, a true angel, cared for him in his last days. In the end, Matthew’s story showed that love was the most important thing. It wasn’t just about someone from Dallas. It became a heartfelt look at family love.

Matthew is survived by his loving mother Mary Morgan; siblings Angela Morgan and her husband Hamid Massoudi and Vivian Morgan and her husband Yossi Ohayon; nieces Sara Massoudi and Dorise Ohayon; nephews Nathaniel and Aviel Ohayon and many loving aunts, uncles and cousins.  He was preceded in death by his father Alvie (Roger) Morgan, Jr.; paternal grandparents Alvie Morgan Sr. and Christine (Alma) Morgan; maternal grandparents Rodolfo and Ventura Hernandez.

There will be a graveside service to celebrate Matthew’s life at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 20, 2023, at Plano Mutual Cemetery, Plano, Texas with Pastor Robert Matthews officiating.
