Mary Etta Fleming, beloved daughter, wife and mother passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on June 24, 2026, at 97 years of age.

She was born Mary Etta Norman in Garza County, Texas on April 12, 1929 to Erwert M. Norman and Voy (Chapman) Norman, she grew up on her parents’ farm in Post and graduated from Post High School in 1946. She went on to attend Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, where she met her future husband, Joe Gayle Fleming. Mary Etta graduated in 1951 with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and then married her beloved Joe on September 23, 1951.

In 1958, Mary Etta and Joe acquired land in Terry County and settled in Meadow, Texas to raise their two children, Traci and Danny Fleming. They worked together for fifty-five years building a successful farming and cattle business and were longtime members of First Baptist Church Meadow.

Mary Etta was faithfully committed to her family and her church, staying involved and serving throughout her life. She will be remembered forever as a loving and devoted mother, and for her kindness and giving nature to her family and community. She was an excellent cook and always enjoyed a daily candy snack.

Mary Etta is survived by her devoted daughter, Traci (Fleming) Carlisle, nieces, and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Erwert and Voy Norman, her husband, Joe G. Fleming, her loving son, Danny Fleming, her son-in-law, Jim Carlisle, and her brothers Gerald Norman and Jim Norman.

There will be graveside service at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at Resthaven (Southland) Cemetery in Slaton, Texas.

A memorial service will follow at 12:00 noon at First Baptist Church, Meadow, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to First Baptist Church Meadow at 301 Moorhead, Meadow, Texas 79345.
