Mary was born in New York City, on July 1st, 1945, to John and Elizabeth Egan and raised her children with love and devotion primarily in Plano, Texas, with her husband, Frank Betron. Mary Catherine Betron departed her loving family and friends on August 10th, 2022.
Mary was a loving wife and mother, sister and daughter, aunt, sister-in-law, and a kind friend to all. Mary enjoyed playing tennis, bridge, reading, and doting on her eight grandchildren. Mary was an active volunteer over the years in church, school, and community including teaching religious education, leadership in the school PTA, and delivering meals to seniors. Lastly, she worked for over 30 years in the financial services industry, taking great pride in her job until she retired. Mary will be greatly missed.
Survivors include her children Frank Betron Jr., Susan Betron Hanna, Michael Betron, and Christine Betron Forney, sons-in-law Richard Hanna and Sean Forney, daughter-in-law Christina Penate, and grand-children Katelynn, Lindsey, and Lydia Hanna, Haley and Andrew Betron, Amelia, Brooklyn, and Zachary Forney, and siblings Karen Egan Prego, Jack Egan, Dennis Egan, Patricia Egan, Richard Egan, Eileen Egan, and Peggy Egan Friedman. Mary is preceded in death by her parents, John and Elizabeth Egan, her brother Jerry Egan, and her husband of 45 years, Frank Betron.
A mass to celebrate Mary’s life will be held Saturday, August 20th at 10:30 at St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church, 3100 W Spring Creek Pkwy, Plano, Texas with The Rev. Msgr Henry Petter officiating. If you wish to join the mass by webcast, please visit: https://youtu.be/MSgscMQ13KM
