Mary Ann Teague

September 18, 1939 — August 19, 2024

Mary Ann Caldwell Teague passed away with her daughters by her side on the afternoon of August 19, 2024. Mary Ann was born to Duette Hopkins Caldwell and Evelyn Doyle Caldwell on September 18, 1939, in Gladewater, Texas. She is survived by her daughters Alicia Arnold (David) and Beverly Teague, granddaughter Lesa Arnold, and numerous nephews, nieces, and extended family.  Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Robert Joel Teague, her parents, and a sister Janet McKinnon (David).

Mary Ann knew she wanted to be a teacher when she was in the 3rd grade and wrote a paper about sitting at the desk in front of the class. She began her career as an elementary school teacher in Hurst, Texas, and stopped working until her youngest daughter started kindergarten. The family moved to Cabot, Arkansas where Mary Ann taught 4th grade for many years. She earned her master’s degree in education from Ouachita Baptist University in 1976 while working and raising her two young daughters. In 1986, Bob and Mary Ann moved the family back to Texas, and she began teaching in the Garland ISD. Mary loved her students, staff, and many friends from Rowlett Elementary, Club Hill Elementary, and Hillside Elementary. Mary Ann would often be busy on the weekends watching her students' soccer matches, football games, cheerleading events, and recitals. She enjoyed dancing and listening to music. She also loved her dogs Roxie and Jaz, Cowboy games, and her Texas Rangers!

The family would like to thank the staff at Visiting Angels, in particular Ms. Tonya Glover for her loving care. We would also like to thank Family Choice, Hillwood House, along with Shannon, Ryan, and the entire staff at Three Oaks Hospice for taking such good care of Mary Ann and making her feel safe and loved.

Mary Ann asked that donations be made to the SPCA of Texas or the American Heart Association on her behalf.

A private burial will be held at a later time.
