Mark Hooper

September 25, 1955 — March 26, 2022

It is with great sadness for our family to announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, and grandfather, Mark E Hooper. On March 26, 2022, he passed away surrounded by his family and entered the arms of his heavenly family feeling no more pain.

Mark was born in Indianapolis, Indiana on September 25, 1955, to George and Helen Hooper. For those who had the honor and privilege of knowing him they would say he loved beyond measure, his smile and witty humor was contagious, his generous soul was limitless, and he seriously loved Jesus.

As a small child he overcame many health issues and almost died the first year of his life. At the age of 11 years old he decided to regain his health by doing body building and studying nutrition. His interest was piqued in the art of Wing Chung, a Chinese Martial art that focuses on meditation, control, mind over matter, and self-defense. Mark was a man’s man in every sense that he would take on a challenge and conquer whatever situation was put in front of him. Towards the end of his life, he was lifting heavy weights twice a day. So proud he would flex his muscles in front of his wife Jude, and she would laugh, clap and scream out Hercules, Hercules… He always would turn with a wink and a smile.

Mark began his career as a Master craftsman in his father’s refinishing business at the age of 4 years old and in later years mastered his craft by working in the Design District as a freelance custom furniture maker commissioned by some of Dallas’ Best Interior Designers for high end clientele, celebrities, sports figures, musicians, politicians and exclusive residential homes. Also, he designed and manufactured luxury furnishings for the hospitality industry and was instrumental in creating three successful businesses in retail kiosks, custom leather, and contemporary furnishings.

Mark would always say that his greatest accomplishment in life was to preserve our family’s legacy by passing down the knowledge of old-world craftsmanship from father to son over 5 generations.  In 2015 along with his wife and son Mark Jr that dream was accomplished with the birth of his current business Furniture Fixology. Our community will dearly miss his talents but a piece of him will always live on through his son and grandchildren and future generations to come.

Pops you are dearly missed… we will always love you to the moon and back…

Mark is survived by his wife Jude Parola-Hooper. His loving children Stephanie Hooper Kehr and husband Ryan. Katy Nottingham and husband Jason. Mark Hooper Jr and wife Megan. Sydney Kohorst and husband Nick. Max Parola and wife Sarah. Grandchildren – Preston, Avery, Kinzie, Jase, Mason, Addison, and Evelyn. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Helen Hooper and sister Janet Berry.
