Mario Carlos Moreno

January 21, 1944 — November 13, 2025

McKinney, Texas

Mario Carlos Moreno, age 81, passed away November 13, 2025, in McKinney, Texas. He was born on January 21, 1944, in Pachuca, Hidalgo, Mexico. He was the youngest of 7 children.

Mario moved to Dallas, Texas, at age 11, after the deaths of his parents. He attended W. W. Bushman Elementary School, Oliver Wendell Holmes Junior High School, and graduated from South Oak Cliff High School in 1964. After high school, he joined the U.S. Naval Reserves for 6 years.

At South Oak Cliff, he met his future wife, Georgann (Georgie) Turner. After her graduation in 1966 they were married. At the time of Mario’s death, they had been married for 59 years.

Mario worked for Southwestern Bell/AT&T for 44 years. His career began as a Cable Splicer’s Helper in 1966 and retired in 2010 as Area Construction Manager. He made many friends over the years.

Mario and Georgie bought their first home in 1970 in Mesquite, Texas. They began their family of four with the births of Scott in 1971 and Michael in 1979. Mario learned everything about soccer and was a coach for both of his sons. The boys were active in soccer, football, and track. Mario did his best to make all their games. He loved his sons so much and was always there for them. Mario was so proud when both sons received their college diplomas. He let everyone know about their many accomplishments.

Michael and his wife Ashlee Ewing married in Maui in 2004. There were 32 people who traveled to Maui to see them married on the beach at sunset. Mario was like a kid enjoying everything Maui had to offer. In 2006, Michael & Ashlee had their first son, Mason. Mario was the happiest PaPa. In 2008, another grandson, Carter was born which brought even more happiness. Even though Michael’s job moved him to Alpharetta, Georgia, in 2007, Mario and Georgie made car and plane trips quite often. Mason and Carter brought him so much joy and love. Mario was the repair and fixer at their home in Georgia, and Ashlee was with him observing, learning & assisting. Mario called her his fixer girl.

In 2005, Mario found an acre lot with over 50 mature trees in McKinney, Texas. Mario’s last home was completed in early 2007. He spent the next 18 years working the yard, trees, shrubs, and sprinkler systems.

Mario is survived by his wife, Georgie, sons Scott and Michael, daughter-in-law Ashlee, grandsons Mason and Carter, sister-in-law Caroline Moreno and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, 4 sisters, 4 nephews, and 1 niece.

A memorial with his immediate family will be held in December.
