Marilyn Adelle Miller Lippincott was called to her heavenly home on Saturday November 9, 2019 at 5:20am. She passed away at the Faith Presbyterian Hospice Pickens Center in Dallas after a 3-year battle with ovarian cancer. Marilyn is survived by her daughter Lillian Adelle Passauer and her husband Josh, and their three sons, Joel (6), Camden (4), and Micah (1); her two sisters, Joan Franz and Jean LaFayette; her step-daughter Victoria Lippincott; and many nieces and nephews, and friends who she considered as family.
Marilyn was born in Houston on May 30, 1942 to parents Arthur and Madalyn Miller. She graduated from Katy High School in Katy, Texas, where she played clarinet and was a baton twirler. She then attended the University of North Texas where she obtained her Bachelor’s degree in Music Education. Marilyn was a talented musician and enjoyed teaching band and choir in multiple school districts for over 20 years. She had such a passion for her students that she completed a Master’s degree in Counseling and became a Licensed Professional Counselor. She went on to work as a high school and middle school counselor in Lancaster, Plano, and Carrollton, Texas until she retired in her late 60s.
Upon retirement, Marilyn relocated to Cotter, Arkansas to live on the White River, where she continued to counsel and serve in several volunteer capacities. She loved to sit on her back deck or her dock over the river and watch the family of bald eagles fly overhead and swoop down to catch their trout dinner.
Marilyn welcomed her daughter Lillian into the world while she was married to Rodney Lippincott in April of 1985. Marilyn loved being a mom and she and Lillian quickly became a dynamic duo. They were loved and supported by family and friends including their church communities of First United Methodist in Lancaster, Texas and Custer Road United Methodist in Plano, Texas. Marilyn loved singing in her church choirs and they became like family, as did her community of Emmaus reunion sisters.
The only thing that rivaled being a mom was being Nana to her 3 grandboys. Whether it was watching them learn to cast a fishing rod, playing the 4th straight game of Chutes and Ladders, or rocking a newborn baby so Mommy could take a nap, she was a doting grandmother and beamed to show them off anyone who would look her pictures.
Marilyn learned about Jesus and his grace while growing up at First United Methodist in Katy, Texas. The more Marilyn continued to mature and dive into her faith as an adult, the more she reveled in the unique and perfect love God has for his children. This catapulted her into an even deeper passion for loving and serving others. We love because he first loved us. 1 John 4:19 Marilyn was a dedicated prayer warrior. The impact she has made on countless lives will be a legacy that lives on in the best of ways.
Let us then approach God's throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. Hebrews 4:16
