Mariamma Varghese

Mrs. Mariamma Varghese was born to Saramma and P. Oommen Samuel on February 19, 1938 in Keezhuvaipur, India. She is survived by her daughter Reny (David), grandchildren Stefanie (Todd), Kristina, Jonathan, Siena, daughter-in-law Sandra, great-grand daughter Savannah, brother Sam and sisters Aleyamma (P.V. John), Rachel (K.V.Samuel) and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband P.V. Varghese and son Reji Varghese.

In the summer of 1971, she migrated with her family to Dallas Texas to join her husband who was a student in the US. She was an earnest student and learnt English quickly. She landed a job in the North Dallas Day school and served there for over 25 years. She had a special heart for children and she was dearly loved by them.

She was a gentle spirit. Her passion and ministry were serving others in her community. Her home was open to all. She loved to cook, often invited folks to her home after Church and enjoyed fellowship with other believers.

She had an unwavering faith in God. She taught her children and grand-children to love the Lord and walk in His ways. She was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease in 2001, but this adversity only strengthened her faith. Not once did she ask “why me?” Her favorite Scripture verse was Psalm 121: 1-2

1 I lift up my eyes to the mountains, where does my help come from?

2 My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.

We as a family thank the Lord for her life. We are grateful to God for fullness of life that he bestowed on her. We thank each of you for standing with us during turbulent times in this journey. We have the assurance that she has entered her Heavenly abode and one day we will see her again.

There will be a funeral service held Saturday, September 26, 2020 at 10:00 a.m. at Allen Family Funeral Options with Rev. Dr. Ninan Verghese and Rev. Jijo Abraham officiating.  Following the service Mariamma will be laid to rest at Lakeview Cemetery in Lavon, Texas and we will follow in procession to the cemetery.
