Margoth Velez de Garcia

October 14, 1943 — June 29, 2025

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Margoth Velez de Garcia, who departed from her earthly vessel peacefully on Sunday, June 29, 2025. With profound gratitude we can state that Margoth was a very bright soul that kept her joy and sense of humor to the very end of her time on Earth; because for she was for many people the love of their life, a best friend, inspiration for life, and a guiding light.

Born on October 14, 1943, in Bogota, Colombia, Margoth was the cherished first-born daughter of Margarita Arbelaez and Alfonso Velez. In 1965, she bravely embarked on a radical new life chapter, moving across the globe to the United States of America, to study at University in San Francisco, California -where she met her future husband: fellow Colombian, electronic engineer Hernando Garcia-Vazquez.

In the 1970’s the couple bought a home in Dallas, Texas. While her heart always held a special place for her homeland, Margoth embraced America -growing to love and respect it as her cherished second home. She adapted well to American culture and cultivated a strong and loving family; raising all three children to reasonably sane adulthood -her "Three Masterpieces" whom she adored beyond measure and always loved completely and unconditionally: Sergio Garcia-Velez, Andres Velez, and Diana Crenshaw.

Margoth possessed a truly beautiful soul; radiating love, kindness, and warmth to everyone she encountered. She often said that everywhere she went she, "Meets the nicest people!" -testament to her open heart and gentle spirit. Margoth was kind to everyone, and a wise and patient counselor to all who sought her guidance. Her consistent faith in God, enduring patience, and determination were truly unmatched allowing her to always see the positive outcome of every situation that life had presented.

Margoth's zest for life was infectious, particularly her passionate love for tennis -a joy she shared with her children from the time they could walk. She truly enjoyed her three kids throughout the decades; embarking on numerous trips and adventures with them, until it was no longer possible. She loved to laugh; filling every room with warmth and delight; because a strong sense-of-humor was crucial to her being able to deal with the complexities of life -a characteristic she passed on to her three children.

Margoth was always a mother first, but as she got into her 60’s she managed a gift shop at Fujitsu Inc. that was quite successful for many years. Later, Margoth found immense newfound joy in her role as a grandmother to Andrea and Matteo Velez. She relished watching them grow and discover the wonders of this life. Her heart swelled with pride at realizing the wonderful, devoted father Andres had become.

Margoth's pride in all her children was evident, and their love for her was equally boundless. She was adored by Sergio, Andres, and Diana, who lovingly cared for her in her home until her very last breath.

Margoth Velez de Garcia will be remembered not only for her wisdom, wit, and humor but also as one of the most beautiful souls to ever grace this World. Her long-lasting legacy of love, grace, respect, class, and unwavering faith will continue to inspire all those who were fortunate enough to know her well in life.

A Celebration of Life for Margoth will be held on Friday, July 18, 2025, at 2:00 PM, at Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton Church. We invite all who knew and loved Margoth to join us in honoring her extraordinary life.
