Heaven has gained another Angel. Margaret Ann (Roth) Robinette went to be with our Lord on September 27, 2022, in Plano Texas. Margaret was born in Waterloo Iowa, on July 23, 1932, to parents Maria Elizabeth (Holmes) and Oswald Frederick Roth. Her father’s parents were born in Germany, married and immigrated to America in 1873. Her mother's parents were British/Irish and go back to the early days in America in 1620.
Margaret spent her early life in Waterloo until marrying her husband Gary Omer Robinette, on June 28, 1952. Their lives quickly took them across the country pursuing education and job opportunities including a short stint as an Army family. After studying at Michigan State University and the University of Wisconsin, Margaret graduated with Distinction and Special Honors and received her Masters of Arts from George Washington University. She was elected to Phi Beta Kappa in 1971. Through the school years, Margaret worked various jobs while Gary was completing his Bachelors and Masters.
They moved to Plano in 1982 when Gary's Career landed them here and very quickly Margaret put her education to work. She immersed herself into her love of Art by beginning her career with the City of Dallas in their Arts and Cultural Affairs departments and working diligently for decades until her retirement. She led many projects and was most proud of her work on the Freeman Cemetery in Dallas. She also led many Art Sculpture projects for City of Dallas Parks and several Sculpture Gardens in the downtown area. She also was an Art and Sculpture consultant for several of the cities around the Metroplex. She was a devoted Christian after accepting the Grace of our Lord at the age of 15 and serving him faithfully for 75 years.
Her hobbies included Cats, and all things Cats, reading, and the social activities that her and Gary were a part of. She attended Chase Oaks Church and was involved in a Life Group there, which she considered to be some of her best friends and family. She faithfully took care of her Soul Mate, Gary in the last decade of their lives which consumed most of her time. Margaret gave generously to the Church and many Faith Based Programs and Organizations. She was a kind soul and will be greatly missed until we are all together again.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband of 70 years, Gary, and parents Maria and Oswald, and their many fur kids. She requested that in lieu of flowers, please donate time into the community programs and church initiatives of your choice.
A memorial service to honor both Gary and Margaret (who passed away shortly following Gary’s death) will be held at 3:00 p.m.
Thursday, October 27, 2022 at Allen Family Funeral Options.
The two will be laid to rest together at the Dallas/Ft Worth National Cemetery, Dallas, Texas.
