Marcus (Marc) Lesly Weatherall, Sr. (94) of Plano, Texas gained his wings on January 29, 2026. He was born in Gilmer, Texas on July 5, 1931, to the late Mark Lesly and Grace Leah Weatherall. Marc was preceded in death by his sister Grace Muir and his wife of 52 years Gloria Ann Weatherall.
Marc grew up in Denver City, Texas where he worked summers in the oil field for Humble Oil and Refining. After graduating from Denver City High School in 1948, he continued his education at Odessa Jr College and Arlington State College before receiving his Bachelor of Science from Midwestern University in Wichita Falls, Texas in January 1955. While Marc continued his education, he was very active with the ROTC before joining the US Army Reserve on January 22, 1955. On April 7, 1955, Marc was ordered to active military service at the Infantry School in Ft. Benning, Georgia; thus began his 20+ year career in the US Army, retiring as Lt. Colonel April 30, 1975. During his time in the Army he was stationed at various bases stateside including Ft. Benning, Georgia; Ft. Hood, Texas; Ft. Polk, Louisiana; Ft. Rucker, Alabama; Ft. Leavenworth, Kansas; Ft. Monroe, Virginia; and Ft. Sill, Oklahoma. He was also deployed to Korea, Vietnam, Germany, and Iran before becoming an ROTC instructor at the University of Oklahoma.
After retiring from the Army, Marc worked for Oklahoma State Employment Service, the Norman Chamber of Commerce, and Tinker Air Force Base. Upon his final retirement, Marc spent quite a bit of time travelling, sometimes even making sure the whole family got to go! His travels took him to many places, including Hawaii, Destin, Chicago, Puerto Rico, Bar Harbor, and New Orleans. He was fortunate enough to cruise through the Panama Canal and the inland passage of Alaska.
Marc loved OU football, golf, coffee, Bloomin’ Onions, and spending time with his family. He always enjoyed their conversations about what’s new in their lives and their current interests and studies. No one could have been prouder of their family and accomplishments.
Marc is survived by his wife of 8 years Cindy Davis Weatherall; daughter Janet and Don Flegal of Little Rock, Arkansas, and their children Maddie and Connor; daughter Marci and Robert Sherburn of Richardson, Texas; son Marcus Jr. and Jamie Weatherall of Grapevine, Texas, and their daughter Lexi; sister Cathy and JD Lammons of Alpine, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and in-laws.
There will be a funeral service to celebrate Marc’s life at 3:00 p.m., Monday, February 9, 2026, at Allen Family Funeral Options. The family will receive friends for a visitation one hour prior to the service from 2-3:00 p.m.
Marc will be laid to rest with military honors at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at the Dallas/Ft. Worth National Cemetery, Dallas, Texas.
