Marcia Ann Maddox was born December 27, 1951 in Connellsville, Pennsylvania to parents Raymond Arthur and Dorothy May (Hawk) Nemoseck.
While growing up in Southern California Marcia attended Gardena High School and Pacific Coast Baptist Bible College where she obtained her teaching diploma. She was the valedictorian of her graduating class in college. Marcia later completed her college degree at Baptist Christian College in Shreveport, Louisiana. After college Marcia pursued her passion for teaching in elementary Christian schools in California, Florida, and Texas, for 20+ years. Marcia also faithfully taught Sunday School and was active throughout other ministries in the church.
While in Florida, Marcia met the love of her life, Roger, and they married 5 months later. During their 28-year military career they traveled extensively, living in Texas, Germany, Virginia and back to Texas. Marcia put her teaching career on hold to start a family and raise 3 beautiful daughters. During this time, she also took care of many neighborhood children. Once the girls were all in school, Marcia returned to teaching at a Christian school.
In her early years she desired to become a missionary. While she may not have physically traveled abroad to do mission work, her mission field eventually extended globally through The Gideons International. Marcia served in leadership roles at the camp, area, and state levels culminating as the Auxiliary State Chaplain for 3 years. During that time, she developed her zeal of sharing God’s word and her personal witness with many she came into contact.
Even during her battle with an aggressive cancer, her faith remained strong and her urgency to share Jesus only grew in abundance.
Marcia is survived by her loving husband Roger Maddox, daughters Revelie Maddox-Tamayo and her husband Jose, Tracey Byrd and her husband Robert and Kirsten Maddox; grandchildren Ethan Tamayo and McKenzie Byrd; mother Dorothy Nemoseck and sister in law Susan Nemoseck. She was preceded in death by her father Raymond Arthur Nemoseck, Sr. and brother Raymond Arthur Nemoseck, Jr.
