Luddie Bell Grigsby

July 13, 1944 — October 15, 2020

Luddie Bell Palmer Grigsby, known by her siblings as “Baby Girl,” was born on July 13, 1944, to Doctor Palmer & Ora Luvenia Griffin Palmer in Ora City of the East Texas Community.

She completed her high school education at Bruce High School in Gilmer, Texas, and then pursued her education in nursing at El Centro Community College and several other Dallas community colleges. Upon graduating with her registered nurse degree, she became certified as an RN in both Texas and New York. Over the course of her career, she worked as a charge nurse, preauthorization nurse, and Director of Nurses for various hospitals and corporations in Dallas. She retired in 2018.

Luddie lived in Dallas for 58 years. She was married to Bricely Grigsby, Jr. She spent much of her life following in the footsteps of the Lord. She was first baptized as a young girl in a small church in East Texas. In 2015, she joined Friendship West Church.

Preceding her in death are her parents and her brother, James A. Palmer. She leaves behind two daughters, Donna Grigsby Alexander and LaShawn Grigsby Brown; a son (grandson), Craig Ravon Grigsby; a brother, Tommy Louis Palmer; a sister, Nettie May Palmer Walker; Margo Oliver and Trinette Oliver Washington. She also leaves behind 5 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends (including Betty Hicks James).

Luddie was a vivacious and lovable woman, who was as unfailingly blunt as she was kind. She had no problem making friends and winning admirers wherever she went. Her laughter could light up a room, and her personality had a way of putting everyone around her at ease. She will be dearly missed.
