Lisa Beckett Ward was born on October 9 th 1957 in Versailles, KY to Grover Howard and Dorothy (Dottie) Fern Williamson Becket. She entered eternal rest on January 16 th 2021 after a very brief battle with cancer.
Lisa grew up in her family home in Lawrenceburg, KY. She attended Anderson County High School where she was a majorette and made many life-long friends. She then attended the University of Kentucky as an Alpha Xi Delta sorority member and graduated with a BA in Education.
Lisa married her college sweetheart, Mike Ward, at the young age of 19. They married on July 9, 1977, the same date as Mike’s parent’s Clifford and Florence Ward, who precede her in death.
Lisa and Mike moved to Texas in 1980 and began creating a wonderful life together full of friends and love. Lisa taught elementary school for 17 years. She loved the children she taught and the friends she made while teaching. Then, following her teaching career she began working alongside her beloved husband at LanSource Inc. as Vice President of Administrations. She held the position for 25 years.
Lisa put her whole life into her children, they were her greatest joy. She attended every baseball/ basketball/ football/ soccer game of her son Andrew’s, and every dance performance of her daughter Allison’s. She loved being a baseball and dance mom and took great pride in her children. Lisa was also an active member in Frisco/Allen Panhellenic and a member of Custer Road United Methodist Church.
Lisa loved to read, travel, go shopping with Allison, spend hours chatting with friends, the beach, Christmas, all things Disney, a good meal, a nice glass of Merlot and most of all to spend quality time her family. She was a mom to all who met her, and was the glue of her little family here in Texas.
Lisa is preceded in death by her parents Grover and Dottie Beckett; her older brother Larry Grove Becket; and her infant brother Brent Nelson Beckett. She is survived by her husband Mike Ward; her children Andrew and Allison Ward; her older brother William Scott and wife Brenda Beckett; her sister Brenda Anderson and husband Bill Anderson; and many beloved nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial celebration of Lisa’s life will be Saturday January 23 rd 2021 at 11:00 am at Custer Road United Methodist Church, 6601 Custer Road Plano Texas, with Reverend Tim Morrison officiating. Due to Covid restrictions, face coverings will be required at the church and social distancing is recommended.
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations to The American Cancer Society.
