Ling Zhou

Ling Zhou (周玲), from Jiangyin in China's Jiangsu province, passed away unexpectedly with her loving husband of 49 years by her side in Dallas Texas.

Zhou studied at the Applied Physics Department of Peking University during 1959-1965. After graduation, she worked as a researcher in the Atomic Energy Academia Sinica. In 1987, she arrived in the USA as an exchange scholar and worked at the University of Tennessee at Knoxville Tennessee. She earned a PhD degree in Solid State Physics in 1995 and stayed at the University as a post-doctoral fellow until 1998. She then worked as a software engineer in Boston, Massachusetts and Dallas, Texas before retiring in 2007.

Zhou married her college classmate Zhong Cao, the love of her life in 1969. They had two daughters and four beautiful grand children in the US. Zhou enjoyed gardening and her pastime as a writer. She also enjoyed traveling around the world with her husband after retirement. Just four months before her passing, she climbed the famous Mt Huangshan to fulfill her lifetime wish.

Zhou is survived by her loving husband Zhong Cao, two daughters Xiaohong and Xiaoqing (Cathy), their husbands, and four grandsons Shawn, Jonathan, Daniel and Leif.

Throughout her life, Zhou worked very hard to achieve the highest in all her endeavors. She was always there for others and was strong willed and kind-hearted. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother, as well as an excellent science and technology professional.
Zhou will be missed forever, with loving memories.

The family will receive friends February 18, 2018 from 3- 5:00 P.M. at Allen Family Funeral Options.

周玲原藉中國江苏江阴，1959-1965 在北京大学应用物理系学习，毕业后进入中国原子能科 学院工作, 1987年赴美國田纳西 Knoxville 州立大学学习工作，1995年获固体物理博士学位. 1998 年后先后在 Dallas,TX 和 Boston, MA 工作，2007 年退休。2018 年2月12日因急性心肺 衰竭突然永远离开了我们。遗下了热爱她的丈夫，两个女兒的家庭,四个外孫和親人无尽的悲痛和思念。

她在1969年和大学的同学曹忠结婚。他们有两个女儿和4个可爱的外孙。玲热爱生活, 退休后 享受和她丈夫在世界各地旅行。她的去世四个月前，她爬上了著名的黄山，完成了一生的心愿。她还喜欢旅行、园艺和写作。

玲一辈子学习努力，工作勤奋，乐于助人, 坚强善良。她是个好妻子,好母亲, 好外婆和好的 科技工作者。願她一路走好，我们永远怀念她。

追悼会将在 2月 18日下午三时在Allen Family Funeral Options，Plano, TX 举行。
