Linda Ruffell

December 21, 1949 — August 10, 2022

On Wednesday August 10 th , 2022, with her daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren, at her side, Linda Ann Ruffell passed at 9:25 a.m., in Plano, Texas, at age 72, joining her late husband, Roy.

Born December 21, 1949, Linda Ann Rush Glubka, in Hot Springs, Arkansas, to Edward Anthony Glubka and Marlys (Marcy) Rosemary Rush.  She was raised in Hot Springs and formally adopted by her aunt and uncle Eleanor Veronica Rush Cross and John Frederick Cross Jr. in September 1959.  She attended Hot Springs High School graduating in 1967, with her high school sweetheart Mike Napier.  Together they attended Arkansas Tech University starting in the Fall of 1967.  She became pregnant and married Mike in 1969 to start a new life together.  In August of 1969 she gave birth to a son William Michael Napier Jr. and the young couple returned to Hot Springs that summer.  They struggled, as many young couples do, and five years later in December 1974 she gave birth to a daughter Kristin Ann Napier.

By 1983 she was divorced and moved with her children to Plano, Texas where she struggled to make ends meet, as a single mom working two full time jobs.  By 1993 she had met and married the love of her life in Roy William Ruffell of London, England.  They shared fifteen wonderful years of marriage, traveling and exploring, until his untimely passing in February 2008.

In 2004 her daughter Kristin provided her with the first of the two greatest joys of her life when she gave birth to a daughter Mackenzie Reese Coop and followed that, in 2007, with the birth of her son Jackson Blake Coop.  Linda was an especially doting grandmother who relished spending as much time with the kids as possible.

After retiring from full-time employment in 2009, due to health concerns, she continued working part-time for Chicos clothing store, being a true clothes horse her entire life, and regularly doing volunteer work for a local domestic violence shelter and various animal shelters as she was a lifelong lover of dogs and spent not one day without one in her life.

One activity she enjoyed throughout her life also brought a lot of joy to those around her.  She loved baking for friends and family and, in her later years, even ran a small baking business for a time.  She will surely be remembered fondly for the many gifts of fabulous cakes and cookies she bestowed on friends and family alike and ALWAYS served with a brilliant smile and a dose of laughter.

We her family have heard from so many of you telling us how she touched your lives and the love you felt for her.  Thank you for all of your sincere condolences and remembrances.  She asked that in lieu of a church service we hold a celebration of life for her, which we will be doing later this fall. We also feel that it would honor her memory greatly for anyone to make a donation to their local domestic violence prevention center or animal shelter in her name.
