Linda Travis Brown, 59, passed away on October 4, 2017 after giving cancer one hell of a fight.
A lifelong Texas resident, she spent the last 20 years living in the Dallas area. She was happiest when digging in the dirt in her garden, traveling with her family (especially to San Francisco), or reading and discussing a good novel. She was kind, creative, independent, and always opinionated. Linda went out of her way to encourage others and helped the people around her become the best versions of themselves.
Linda was the beloved mother of Leslie Llado and Travis Llado, stepmother of Marshall Brown, mother-in-law of Dahlia Brown, and grandmother of Carmen and Rosalie Brown (who she sang to and sewed for at every opportunity). She adored all of them equally and never missed a chance to embarrass them. She spent 16 wonderful years married to her husband, Gary Brown, who shared her passion for art, adored Linda’s delicious homemade meals, and took care of her until the end. Linda also leaves behind her mother, Margaret Travis; her siblings, Susan Highsmith, Tommy Travis, and Johnny Travis; and her nieces and nephews.
Never one for tradition, Linda requested a celebration of life for close friends and family instead of a memorial. Her requirements were that they spend time outside, in the wind and the sunshine, and drink a margarita (her favorite!) in her honor. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to one of Linda’s favorite charities — Planned Parenthood of Texas or the North Texas Food Bank.
