Lillian Mackiewicz Dean entered into eternal rest on February 23, 2023, after a year-long battle with cancer. A 1951 graduate of Thornton Township High School, Tinley Park, IL, she worked a year before attending nursing school, graduating in 1955. After marrying James Allder Dean in 1958, she moved to Florida and flourished in her nursing career while raising her family.
Lillian was a living example to her children of how one should live and treat others. She was proud of her family, and when her sons married, she loved their wives, welcoming them as daughters. Of course, her favorite role was Grandma! Chris, Kate, Beth and Berkeley filled her heart with much joy and happiness.
When she retired from full time nursing, Lillian volunteered with Hospice and with several ministries at the Church of the Nativity in Brandon, FL and then St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Plano, TX. Through everything she did in her personal and professional lives, giving of her time and talents with friends and family, her love of Christ came shining through.
Lillian was predeceased by her son, Jeffrey Allen Dean, in October 2022; 8 brothers and sisters; and her parents Joseph and Margaret Mackiewicz. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Kenneth Allder and Melanie Dean of Green Cove Springs, Florida; daughter-in-law Kay Jarrett-Dean with granddaughters Katherine Ava Jarrett-Dean and Elizabeth Grace Jarrett-Dean of Dallas, Texas; daughter Mary Lynn of Plano, Texas; grandson and granddaughter-in-law Christopher Michael Dean and Sara DeRoo of Orlando, Florida; granddaughter Berkeley Brown of Denver, Colorado; brother and sister-in-law Henry (Hank) and Norma Mackiewicz of Boynton Beach, Florida; and numerous nieces and nephews.
