Leslie “Les” Aten Datesman, Jr., of Plano, Texas passed away peacefully in his sleep on September 7, 2019 while with his wife Marian.
Les was born on May 2, 1930 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to Leslie, Sr. and May Rhode Datesman. Les grew up in Philadelphia and graduated from Central High School. After graduation, he worked for Penn Mutual Insurance Co. and then served in the Army for two years. He was in basic training at Fort Bliss, Texas before being sent overseas to Germany during the Korean War. After the Army, Les began his career at Mobil Oil and attended night school at Temple University to earn his bachelor’s degree.
While at Mobil Oil Company, Les met his lovely bride, Marian Crawford. They moved several times during his career at Mobil before he retired after almost 40 years. He then sold Real Estate in South Padre Island until he again retired in 2014.
Les enjoyed watching sports, especially the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles, playing tennis, and loved spending time at the beach.
Les is survived by his wife, Marian Datesman; children, Leslie Aten Datesman, III (Deb), Laura Coyne (Mike) and Robert Datesman (Christine) and 6 grandchildren, Cody Datesman, William Datesman (Kelsey), Elijah Datesman, Christopher Coyne, Ryan Coyne and Leslie Coyne.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 14, 2019, at Christ United Methodist Church, 3101 Coit Road, Plano, Texas 75075, with a reception to immediately follow.
