It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Leroy Francis Buss of Plano Texas, who departed this life on November 18, 2025 at BSW Hospital-Plano. Leroy was born to Herman and Bertha Buss in Parsons, Kansas in 1939. He attended Manuel High School in Peoria, Illinois and continued his education at Bradley University.
In December of 1960, he married his lovely wife, Alma May (Davis) Buss of 64 years. Leroy was a professional in the Oil and Gas Industry and lived and worked overseas in South Korea, Australia, and Saudi Arabia. After working for Saudi Aramco for 14 years, he retired in 1994 to Plano, Texas so he could spoil his 5 grandkids (and he did!). He cherished his family and the time he spent with them.
Leroy was known by his family and friends for his warm, caring heart, his sense of humor and his devoted love of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Leroy enjoyed a full life. He was passionate about teaching his adult Sunday school classes and served as an ordained deacon. He loved to hold his grandbabies and great granddaughter, and continued this devotion by volunteering with infants at The Children’s Medical Center in Dallas. He enjoyed his morning coffee, watching John Wayne westerns, and telling his corny dad jokes. On family road trips, when he would pull into hotels or restaurants and see the “Buses Welcome” sign, he would say, “See kids, they’re expecting us!”
He was a devoted historian and experienced world traveler. During retirement, he and his wife (and sometimes his kids and grandkids) traversed the United States visiting historical sites, national landmarks, and the scenic beauty of God’s creation, especially the Pacific Northwest.
Leroy is survived by his wife, Alma May Buss; children Rebecca Van Meter (Brian), Betsy Luithle (Mark), and Matthew Buss (Karen); grandchildren Andrew, Sarah (Nick), Hannah (Alex), Bethany (Michael), Sam; great granddaughter Arya; brother Ken Buss; and sister Ruth Ann Lyons; as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Leroy was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Charles and sisters: Rosella, Vivian, Ruby, and Elsie.
The family will receive friends for a visitation from 5:00-7:00 p.m., Friday, December 5, 2025, at Allen Family Funeral Options.
The Celebration of Life will be held at Hunters Glen Baptist Church at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, December 6, 2025, at Hunters Glen Baptist Church.
