Leonard (Len) Gerald Jenkins was born May 1, 1942, in Houston, Texas to parents Leonard and Lana (Godwin) Jenkins. On August 3, 2021, he unexpectedly passed away at his home in Frisco, Texas.
Len attended University of Texas before joining the U.S. Navy where he completed flight training and became a Naval Aviator. He was a Vietnam Vet that completed hundreds of carrier landings.
After leaving the Navy he began his career with American Airlines that spanned 36 years. He was flying Captain on the Triple Seven at retirement and it was difficult for him to give up flying as he always said, “I was born to fly.”
He was an avid reader and could discuss many topics. He was definitely the “Handy Man” around the house and enjoyed gardening as he loved flowers.
Len and his wife Pam were married on August 15, 1989. They met at a dance and never stopped dancing for the next 32 years. They enjoyed traveling and being with their families and wonderful friends.
Len is survived by his loving wife Pam Jenkins; daughter Kelley Ann Murphy and her husband Patrick and son Chris Ryan Galloway; grandchildren Tyler, Christian and Alex Murphy, Marian, Gaelan and Collin Galloway; brother Keith Jenkins and his wife Marlene; sister-in-law Sandra Willis; niece Nichole Utecht and her husband Travis, Keith Jenkins and his wife Randi and Kirk Jenkins and his wife Claudia.
The family will have a private memorial service to honor Len’s life. He will be laid to rest at Christ Church Plano’s Columbarium, Plano, Texas.
If desired and in lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made in Len’s name to the Alzheimer's Association, https://act.alz.org/donate
