Laurence S. “Larry” Sexton, age 80, of Plano, Texas, passed away peacefully on February 23, 2026. He was born on September 23, 1945, in Oakland, California, to William and Betty Sexton.
Larry grew up in Bellflower, California, and graduated from Bellflower High School. At 19, he was drafted into the United States Army and proudly served in Vietnam from 1964 until his honorable discharge in 1968. After returning home, he began a long and successful career with GTE—later Verizon—starting as a telephone pole repairman and working his way up to a computer programmer before retiring. Never one to sit still, Larry later spent time selling cars for Chevrolet and even earned his real estate license.
Larry loved spending time on the golf course with friends, his father Bill, and his son Brian. He also enjoyed following the stock market and once took the family on a memorable trip to New York, where visiting the New York Stock Exchange was a highlight he talked about for years.
Above all, Larry was a devoted father and grandfather who gave his family a childhood filled with joy, adventure, and memories they will cherish forever.
Larry will be lovingly remembered by wife, Carolyn; children Shelley, Sarah, and Brian; Carolyn’s children Steve and Julie; grandchildren and great-grandchildren and sister Carolyn Graffio. He was welcomed into Heaven by his parents, his sister Sherill, and Carolyn’s daughter Stacy.
Larry will be forever in our hearts.
There will be a memorial mass at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 13, 2026, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Plano, Texas.
