Larry & Mona Witte

January 8, 2020 — January 9, 2020

Larry Gene Witte was born on December 1, 1945 in Dexter, Iowa to Raymond and Irene (Leeper) Witte. He passed away on January 8, 2020.

Ramona “Mona” Margaret (Cash) Witte was born on April 14, 1948 in Kansas City, Kansas.  She passed away on January 9, 2020.

From their daughter, Sundi –

My mom and dad went on a blind date in 1963 and never looked at anyone else. Before leaving to serve in the Army, my dad asked my mom to marry him while she finished high school.  She was a sophomore at Abraham Lincoln High School. Dad came back from Germany to get married and then spent another year abroad.  They were reunited in Colorado Springs where my dad finished up his service in the Army.

Then, they moved back to Council Bluffs, Iowa were they raised their daughter and son.  Time was spent together with family and friends.  When his daughter wanted to play soccer, he went out and started the girl’s league so she could. Many hours were spent playing and coaching soccer as a family.

They would help anyone, especially their family, any way they could.  They loved their country, friends and family.

“His great accomplishment in life was in his words. Some men judge their wealth by their Material Positions and the Money they have.  But there are things that mean much more. If riches were measured in Loving and Caring Friends and Family, No Man in the World would be Richer than I am.  I have always considered myself a very lucky guy, now I know I am the Luckiest man on Earth.”

His motto in life was Mickey, Peter Pan and Me.  Together they lived life with young hearts, full of fun, laughs, and a love for everyone.

Mona was the family’s rock.  She was available anytime she was needed by anyone and didn’t know a stranger. She was strong, guiding and full of grace and love.  She might not like the decisions you made but she would always back you up.  There is no one like her and never will be.

They were and always will be our family’s Heroes!

Larry and Mona are survived by their daughter, Sundi R. McClain (Willy); son, Larry Witte, II (Nita Livingston); granddaughters, Stevi Cooper and Ashlyn Cooper; grandsons, Cole Witte, Kevin Witte, Jacob Stuart, Tony Schulze, Jonathan McClain and Travis Harville and great grandson, Jaiyden McClain.  Other survivors include Larry’s sisters, Shirley Collins (Marvin) and Janice Feldman (Nigel), Mona’s brother, Ronald Cash (Joyce) and 2 nieces, 4 nephews and many great and great, great nieces, nephews, cousins and extended family and friends.

Services will be held in Iowa at a later date. The family will notify everyone as the details become available.
