Larry William Conrad

Larry William Conrad went to be with the Lord on August 31, 2025, in Plano, TX, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s. Born February 27th, 1947, in Emmett, Idaho, he is preceded in death by his parents, William and Geri Conrad. Larry’s life was defined by his strong faith in Jesus Christ, his unwavering work ethic, and his commitment to his family.

After graduating from the University of Idaho, Larry moved to Richardson, Texas, where he worked as an engineer and eventually met his wife Debbie. They settled down in Plano, TX, where they raised three children: Matthew, Zachary and Katelyn. A man of many interests, Larry enjoyed gardening, cars, and spending time in his home state of Idaho. To most, he is the hardest-working individual they have ever met, and he never met a car issue or a house problem he couldn’t tackle. This included building the family home from the ground up and restoring classic cars. While he was an engineer, he also went back to school to get his MBA from Southern Methodist University. He was an engineer by trade, but a farmer by heart. He enjoyed gardening in his backyard in Plano and was the only home in the neighborhood to have cornstalks above the fence line. He took his love for agriculture and spent his retirement farming acres of wheat, corn, and alfalfa in Idaho. Larry adored his family– he was a devoted husband and a supportive dad. There wasn’t a game or dance performance he missed. One of his favorite roles was as a Grandpa and Papos, and he took great delight in playing with his grandchildren and using the realistic animal noises he honed on the farm to make them giggle.

Most importantly, Larry loved his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, and desired that all would come to share in the same love he personally knew. He would often write letters to loved ones to share his faith and serve his neighbors to reflect the love of Christ.

He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Debbie; his three children, Matthew Conrad and his wife Rebecca of Frisco, TX, and their children Campbell, Collin, and Catherine; Zachary Conrad and his wife Madalyn of Plano, TX, and their children Lauren Kate, Brooklyn, Philip, and Henry; and Katelyn Godsey and her husband Blake of Fort Worth, TX, and their children Blakely, Dani, and Josie. He is also survived by his sister, Cheryl Ashurst and husband Jim of Rathdrum, ID.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, September 6th at Allen Family Funeral Options (2112 Spring Creek Pkwy, Plano, TX 75023). Reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Allies in Youth Development https://alliesyouth.org/.
